In order to realize power supply method with less current/voltage fluctuation, new wiring technology using power supply/ground paired transmission lines with low characteristic impedance (Zo) is propose, and its possibility is examined. This new technology is based on the concept of ldquometamaterialrdquo, and is expected that Zo of the transmission lines will decrease to less than several ohms by...
Presented in this paper is a new chip stacking technology for very high bandwidth communication. This technology utilizes transmission line coupling between two differential pairs in the metal layers of the stacked LSI chips. We have demonstrated communication at 12.5 GHz between two differential pairs of transmission lines fabricated on different metal layers in a single chip. This technology is...
In this paper, we introduce a very high bandwidth proximity communication technique for Stacked LSIs. This technology is based on transmission line coupling between two differential pairs in the metal layers of each chip and can be implemented without modifying conventional chip fabrication process. We have demonstrated its feasibility using a single chip in which coupled two differential pairs of...
NOx removal from a smoke tube boiler flue gas was investigated using a commercial ozonizer for indirect NO oxidation and a Na2SO3 chemical scrubber. The flue gas flow rate was in the range of 410~1,480 Nm3/h, the gas temperature of 185~325degC, and NOx concentration of around 40 ppm in city gas firing. Operational and performance data were obtained. The NOx removal efficiency was clearly dependent...
This paper discusses new dedicated hardware architecture for crossover operation in order to achieve high speed processing. The proposed architecture is based on cycle crossover algorithm which has superior search performance. It achieves not only high speed processing, but also reduction of the number of processing steps to obtain a solution. In order to evaluate the proposed architecture, we design...
The temperature and stress dependence of the properties of a recently discovered strain glass Ti 48.5 Ni 51.5 , which is a glass of frozen local lattice strains, was investigated systematically. It was found that the ideal freezing temperature (T 0 ) of the strain glass decreases with increasing stress. When the stress exceeds a critical value σ c (T), the pseudo-B2...
Interconnection technology using conductive adhesives is generally used in place of solder interconnection. However, it is not clarified whether or not the conductive adhesive joints are adequate to high-speed signal transmission and power supply with large current, because there are not suitable methods for measuring and evaluating performance of the intended electrical function of an electronic...
A box-type structure made of iron slag concrete named "E-Box-O" was installed at the experimental site in Amagasaki Harbor located in northeast part of Osaka Bay. In order to estimate time histories of sessile organism biomasses and the carbon and nitrogen fixation rates of E-Box-O, covered ratio observations and biomass measurements were carried out. The results of investigations showed...
A research on "density current generator (DCG)" which is a new concept machine to agitate the stratified water area widely and calmly by using a density current has been carried out. The machine draws the water from both surface and bottom layer in a stratified water area, and mixes and discharges it on the middle layer. The discharged water is spreading and staying on a same density layer...
This paper presents experimental results of three different configurations of two flexible circular cylinders were towed in still water. Each cylinder has length-to-diameter ratio of 34.4 with low mass ratio of 1.24. The cylinders were submerged partially into the still water from towing carriage as hanging vertical cantilever and towed by various speeds that give Reynolds number of 1.08 times 104...
In this work, we implement a real-time visual tracker that targets the position and 3D pose of objects in video sequences, specifically faces. Using stream processors for performing the computations as well as efficient sparse-template-based particle filtering allows us to achieve real-time processing even when tracking multiple objects simultaneously in high- resolution video frames. Stream processing...
We report on a record CW surface-emitting output-power operation of 2D photonic-crystal lasers at RT. We also propose new cavity design for further increase of output power.
Quick and accurate sizing of particles 100-500 nm in diameter undergoing Brownian motions with concentration below 1 ppm in water has been successfully demonstrated using a self-mixing thin-slice Nd:GdVO4 laser with laser-diode pumping. A lower concentration limit as low as 0.05 ppm was achieved for 262-nm polystyrene latex spheres.
Detailed oscillation spectra and polarization properties of laser-diode-pumped ceramic Nd:YAG lasers were examined. Inherent segregation of lasing patterns into local modes possessing different polarization states and oscillation frequencies was observed. Single-frequency, linearly polarized stable oscillations were achieved by forcing the laser into Ince-Gaussian mode operation by adjusting azimuthal...
Highly sensitive, real-time detection of small particles in fluid flow has been demonstrated by using a laser-diode-pumped, self-mixing thin-slice Nd:GdVO4 laser. Power spectra of modulated laser output, reflecting the velocity distribution of liquid flow, due to the scattered light from small particles in fluid flow were observed.
The effect of average grain sizes on oscillation properties is studied in laser-diode-pumped miniature ceramic lasers. The inherent segregation of lasing patterns into local modes is found to be prevented in the case of ceramics with grains of the order of micrometer, resulting in linearly polarized TEM00 transverse mode oscillations.
