A study has been performed on the emissive characteristics of a cold graphite cathode in a magnetically insulated coaxial diode under the action of nanosecond accelerating pulses at a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of up to 3.5 kHz. Emission was observed to degrade at PRF < 1 kHz and recover at PRF ~3.5 kHz. Estimates of the temperature conditions in the region of an explosive electron emission...
This paper presents a review of results obtained at the Institute of High Current Electronics relevant to research and development of intense low-energy (< 200 keV) high-current electron and ion beam sources, powerful plasma sources and their application in technology. Considered are issues of charged particle beam production in vacuum diodes with explosive-emission cathodes, in plasma-filled diodes,...
Irradiation surface sterilization does not require highly penetrable radiation. More important requirement for this technology are high rate of treatment of the object and small dimensions of the radiator. Conventional isotope γ-radiation sources or commercial high-energy electron accelerators are not suitable for this purpose because of their large dimensions and low productivity.
Radiation with output power up to 100 MW at wavelength 8 mm, at gain 44 dB and efficiency 11% was obtained in TWT with a relativistic electron beam. In a sectioned generator BWO-twistron, output power was 500 MW at wavelength 10 mm at efficiency 20%.
The experimental data to create relativistic HF-oscillators with the repetition rate up to 103 pps is given. The radiation in the 0.8–3 cm wavelength band with pulse intensity 108–109 W is paid particular attention to. Studied are the relativistic BWO and orotron. The experiments were based on specially designed high-current repetitively-pulsed accelerators with high stability of electron beam parameters.
One of the most perspective trends of high-current electronics development is the creation of electron beam accelerators with high pulse recurrence frequency [l]. The prospect of this trend is due not only to the possibility of these accelerators to be widely used in physical researches but to their possibility to be used in solution of various problems of applied character. This paper deals with...
