The paper presents the results of recent experiments on the generation of subgigawatt RF pulses using two types of nonlinear transmission lines (NLTL's). In the high-voltage coaxial lines, we used: (1) periodic gas gap structure and (2) uniformly loaded saturated ferrite with axial bias. The concept of the first element is based on the in-phase composition of RF fields produced by currents in the...
Results of research aimed at stabilizing microwave radiation parameters in the pulse-periodic mode of relativistic BWO nonstationary generation are discussed. The possibility of electromagnetic oscillation phase fixation within the microwave pulse, as well as of minimization of peak power spread from pulse to pulse is shown.
The superradiative regime of relativistic BWO allows achieving not only extremely high microwave power but under some conditions also the very stable parameters (peak power, central frequency and RF phase relatively voltage rise time) from one pulse to another. The moderately dispersive spread of group velocities in the frequency band of short microwave pulse might plays the important role for the...
The experimental data to create relativistic HF-oscillators with the repetition rate up to 103 pps is given. The radiation in the 0.8–3 cm wavelength band with pulse intensity 108–109 W is paid particular attention to. Studied are the relativistic BWO and orotron. The experiments were based on specially designed high-current repetitively-pulsed accelerators with high stability of electron beam parameters.
