A 2.2 GHz fully integrated SiGe-BiCMOS frequency synthesizer embedding a low-noise VCO and targetting infrastructure applications is presented. A differential Colpitts VCO forms the core of the synthesizer. An initial open-loop calibration which stores the center frequencies of all VCO sub-bands in a RAM obviates the need for incremental calibration. The synthesizer has multiple out-of-loop dividers...
Well-collimated proton beams are generated from bulk glass along the target normal direction by tightly focused 3mJ ultrafast laser pulses at intensities of 2×1018W/cm2 at 0.5kHz. Spectral measurements indicate maximum proton energy is around 0.5MeV.
Relativistic electron jets with energies up to 1.4MeV are observed from the interaction of kHz laser pulses with SiO2 at 2×1018W/cm2. The scaling of electron temperature with intensity is also presented for Al plasma.

Hard X-rays are generated in laminar helium flow in atmosphere by tightly focused 35 fs-3 mJ laser pulses interacting with Cu. Spectrum, efficiency and source size are compared with those measured in vacuum and in static helium.
Design and measurements of a high-contrast millijoule regenerative amplifier are presented. Coupled with a preamplifier and saturable absorber, the amplifier and subsequent compressor produce 3.7 mJ, 33 fs pulses with nanosecond ASE contrast of 10-11
