Effects of irradiating dental hard tissue with an ultrashort pulsetrain-burst (>100 MHz) laser are studied. The ablation rate is investigated as a function of the pulsetrain duration. Material modification is characterized using micro-Raman spectroscopy.
Relativistic electron jets with energies up to 1.4 MeV are observed from the interaction of kHz laser pulses with SiO2 at 2times1018W/cm2. The scaling of electron temperature with intensity is also presented for Al plasma.
In this paper we report the first demonstration of efficient hard X-ray generation using a femtosecond fiber laser. The hard X-ray source has yield efficiencies similar to those obtained with solid state laser drivers with comparable pulse energies and intensities.
