A bi-directional 10-GHz microwave photonic filter is proposed and experimentally evaluated. Its frequency response consists of a series of microwave band-pass windows obtained by the interaction of externally modulated multimode laser diodes emitting around of 1550nm associated to the chromatic dispersion parameter of an optical fiber, as well as the length of the optical link. Microwave band-pass...
A particular Full-Duplex microwave photonic filter is proposed and simulated. The main goal of this work is to demonstrate that filtering effect is formed in a bi-directional way by using a single optical source. The series of simulations carried out allow establishing the optimal conditions for a practical implementation of this architecture in an optical communication system with a high degree of...
We experimentally demonstrate the generation and distribution of a microwave signal by using an optoelectronic oscillator. This system can be easily configured to generate microwave signals tuned over a very broad frequency range by selecting an appropriate optical delay. Experimental results show a good signal-to-noise-ratio at 4.1GHz.
This work describes a microwave photonic filter (MPF) that exhibits five band-pass windows at multiples of 2.0GHz into the frequency range of 0.1–12GHz. A novel electrical microwave band-pass filter (BPF) is designed and fabricated to operate at 4.0GHz. The fabricated BPF exhibits a compact size, low losses, high selectivity and high spurious frequency; these characteristics permit its inclusion into...
We show a hybrid fiber-radio system incorporating optical microwave generation, wireless transmission, and optical long haul transmission. Microwave signal generation is achieved by using optical heterodyne technique in the frequency range of 0.1–4.0 GHz. The microwave signal obtained is used as demodulated signal as well as electrical carrier. Microwave signal is mixed with a TV-signal, and used...
In this paper we use optical heterodyne as an alternative technique to measure reflected power of antennas. As a way to show the effectiveness of our proposal, results of the measurements obtained with the proposed technique are compared with to that obtained when the tracking generator of the spectrum analyzer on the band from 0 to 3 GHz is used.
