An S-band lumped-element active CMOS differential bandpass filter with high linearity performance is presented. A coupled-resonator topology was chosen to allow the use of identical parallel LC tank resonators throughout the filter which, in turn, facilitates the dc biasing arrangement for the active devices. Loss compensation of the substrate losses and tank parasitics is carried out using cross-coupled...
This work shows a low cost system for dielectric permittivity sensor in the microwave frequency range. All components of system are described. With this system, the real part of permittivity of low loss dielectrics can be obtained. It provides the same results that a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The permittivities of Teflon, wood, paper, white and yellow corn and sorghum are obtained.
This work describes a microwave photonic filter (MPF) that exhibits five band-pass windows at multiples of 2.0GHz into the frequency range of 0.1–12GHz. A novel electrical microwave band-pass filter (BPF) is designed and fabricated to operate at 4.0GHz. The fabricated BPF exhibits a compact size, low losses, high selectivity and high spurious frequency; these characteristics permit its inclusion into...
A balanced microstrip diplexer integrating directional filter and UWB structures for electronic communications is presented. The proposed structure channelizes UWB and WiLAN bands at different ports in its differential-mode. Good noise attenuation is obtained for the common-mode operation. The prototype presents low dimensions and ease of fabrication, which add important characteristics for integration...
We show a hybrid fiber-radio system incorporating optical microwave generation, wireless transmission, and optical long haul transmission. Microwave signal generation is achieved by using optical heterodyne technique in the frequency range of 0.1–4.0 GHz. The microwave signal obtained is used as demodulated signal as well as electrical carrier. Microwave signal is mixed with a TV-signal, and used...
Theory and experiment of multi-pole microstrip directional filters for multiplexing networks are presented in this paper. Conventional microstrip directional filters present only a single-pole filter response. By applying stopband filter theory, two Butterworth microstrip directional filters are designed and tested. The desired multi-pole filter response is achieved by cascading two or more similar...
We present a new analytical direct parameter-extraction methodology for obtaining the small-signal equivalent circuit of HBTs. It is applied to cryogenically operated SiGe HBTs as a means to allow circuit design of SiGe HBT low-noise amplifiers for cooled radio astronomy applications. We split the transistor into an intrinsic transistor (IT) piece modeled as a Pi-topology, and the quasi-intrinsic...
