In this paper, we analyze the subjective feelings about the body of the operator of a telexistence system. We investigate whether a mirror reflection and self-touch affect body ownership and agency for a surrogate robot avatar in a virtual reality experiment. Results showed that the presence of tactile sensations synchronized with the view of self-touch events enhanced mirror self-recognition.
In this article, an effort has been made to investigate the nonlinear and chaotic nature of daily CME linear speed time series data collected from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory for solar cycle 23 over the period of February 1999 to December 2007. To explore the nonlinear characteristic of the CME linear speed signal delay vector variance algorithm is used whereas 0–1 test, information entropy...
The modernized GNSS systems introduced the idea of BOC signals, which provide better tracking accuracy than BPSK signals at the cost of having side lobes in the autocorrelation function. In closed-loop processing, or tracking, the presence of side lobes can origin false locks, thus making the ranging estimate to be biased by several meters. The overall position, velocity and time solution can then...
GNSS signals are vulnerable to various types of interference including jamming and spoofing attacks. Spoofing signals are designed to deceive target GNSS receivers without being detected by conventional receiver quality monitoring metrics. This paper focuses on detecting an overlapped spoofing attack where the correlation peaks of the authentic and spoofing signals interact during the attack. Several...
Recent development in Cloud and networking technologies have stimulated unification of network and Cloud service provisioning, in which service composition plays a crucial role. While encouraging progress has been made toward network-Cloud service composition, the impact of correlated network and Cloud services on the QoS of composite services, however, has not been sufficiently studied. In this paper,...
Many intralogistics systems expose autocorrelated arrival processes with significant influence on the systems' performance. Unfortunately there are no control strategies available which take this into account. Instead standard strategies like First Come First Served are applied which lead to systems tending to exhibit long queues and high volatility, even though these strategies perform well in the...
Underwater acoustic communication (UAC) system designers tend to transmit as much information as possible, per unit of time, at as low as possible error rate. However, the bit rate achieved in UAC systems is much lower than for wire or radio-communication systems. This is due to disadvantageous properties of the UAC channels, namely the sea and inland waters. Estimation of UAC channel transmission...
L1-L2C is the first dual-frequency pair of civilian GPS signals, expected to become available over the full constellation by 2019. Pre-operational CNAV broadcast is made available to support development of L2C signal processing capability in modernized GPS receivers. The transmission of synchronized L1 C/A and L2C codes by Block IIR-M and follow-on generations of GPS satellites allows GPS receiver...
A sequential test is proposed for detection and isolation of hubs in a correlation graph. Hubs in a correlation graph of a random vector are variables (nodes) that have a strong correlation edge. It is assumed that the random vectors are high-dimensional and are multivariate Gaussian distributed. The test employs a family of novel local and global summary statistics generated from small samples of...
From a sequence of similarity networks, with edges representing certain similarity measures between nodes, we are interested in detecting a change-point which changes the statistical property of the networks. After the change, a subset of anomalous nodes which compares dissimilarly with the normal nodes. We study a simple sequential change detection procedure based on node-wise average similarity...
Stochastic computing (SC) performs arithmetic on randomized bit-streams called stochastic numbers (SNs) using standard logic circuits. SC has many appealing features such as error tolerance, low power, and low area cost. However, it suffers from severe accuracy loss due to correlation or insufficient randomness. SNs can be decorrelated by regenerating them from independent random sources. This is...
The operation algorithm of a multilateral time difference of arrival intelligence system, which enables to locate and to pursue the targets at the low signal to noise ratio at the output of intermediate frequency amplifier, is proposed in the paper.
In this paper, we propose a method to analyze epileptic electroencephalogram based on time series that is transformed from improved k-nearest neighbor network. The study of complex networks has become a hot research of electroencephalogram signal. Electroencephalogram time series generated by the network keeps node information of network, so researching the time series from the network can also achieve...
Critical Paths Monitoring is an efficient technique to overcome transistor aging. A methodology to select critical paths to be monitored at design phase is proposed. A spatial correlation approach is used to perform Statistical Timing Analysis at design phase. Critical paths are selected for various aging workload profiles to avoid worst-case assumptions. The results show that up to 16x less paths...
This article concerns an autocorrelation algorithm for determining a pulse wave delay. The pulse wave delay is defined as difference between the characteristic points i.e. the difference between the R wave in the electrocardiogram signal (ECG) and distinctive point in the photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveform. Obtaining values of the characteristic points (time stamps) are realized by correlation function...
A comprehensive variation model is critical to achieve both competitive design and manufacturing yield in advanced technologies. Conventionally, as long as FEOL (front end of line) statistical model is appropriate, BEOL (back end of line) variations given by lumping multiple variation sources into few corners is enough to achieve reliable simulation results. However, as BEOL contribution is becoming...
In multichannel systems, acoustic time delay estimation (TDE) is a challenging problem in reverberant environments. Although blind system identification (BSI) based methods have been proposed which utilize a realistic signal model for the room impulse response (RIR), their TDE performance depends strongly on that of the BSI, which is often inaccurate in practice when the identified responses are under-modelled...
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a method of choosing optical delay time by calculating normalized autocorrelation function of channel noise to achieve optimal OSNR monitoring performance. Up to 29 dB monitoring range with error ≤±0.5 dB for 112 Gbit/s PM-QPSK signal is obtained. We also demonstrate the method is applicable to the filters with different bandwidths and different shapes.
3G systems, which are expected to still be widely deployed over the next decade, utilize Direct-Sequence Code-Division Multiple-Access (DS-CDMA) which suffers mainly from the Multiple Access Interference (MAI). This paper proposes improved decoder log-likelihood ratios for the practical uplink. The basic idea is to utilize knowledge about user cross-correlations and fading coefficients to obtain conditional...
Spatial consistency is identified as an important feature for fifth generation (5G) channel model. In this paper, a geometry stochastic approach for spatial consistency is presented under the framework of spatial channel model. The extended stochastic channel model (SCM) realizes large-scale parameters(LSPs) and small- scale parameters (SSPs) in a continuous and realistic manner as a function of position...
