Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based global navigation satellite system [1]. It provides time and location information to users anywhere on Earth [1]. Nowadays, GPS is very useful not only for military applications but also for civil applications. GPS receivers are placed in any embedded system to continuously calculate current time and location information. Hence, real-time synchronous...
Power has become an important aspect in the design of general purpose processors. The conventional RISC processors consume too much power as compared with other processors. The power reduction in these processors is done in the fabrication step itself. But this is a complex process. If we can implement the techniques for power reduction in front end process then we can easily design the low power...
This work presents an architecture to compute matrix inversions in a reconfigurable digital system, benefiting from embedded processing elements present in FPGAs, and using double precision floating point representation. The main module of this system is the processing component for the Gauss-Jordan elimination. This component consists of other smaller arithmetic units, organized in pipeline. These...
As a step torward a viable, single-issue out-of-order soft core, this work presents copy-free checkpointing (CFC), an FPGA-friendly register renaming design. CFC supports speculative execution by implementing checkpoint recovery. Compared against the best conventional register renaming implementation CFC requires 7.5x to 6.4x fewer LUTs and is at least 10% faster.
To meet the requirement of high-speed data processing of complicated system with multi-sensor inputs and multi-controller outputs, an embedded ARM+FPGA +DSP multiprocessor platform is designed, which is characterized by synchronous cooperation and mutual exchange of shared data. ARM completes interface expansion and task scheduling configuring peripheral interfaces including RS422, CAN and RJ45, and...
