We developed a hybrid integrated tunable laser based on waveguide ring resonators using passive alignment technology. A compact chip having a wavelength locker, stable high output power and excellent mass-productivity was achieved.
A simple tunable laser consisting of a SOA mounted on Si substrate with silica waveguide resonated-ring-resonator was proposed. An excellent coupling loss of 0.41 dB between the waveguide and SOA enables fiber output power of more than 16 dBm.
We have developed operational tuneable dispersion compensator that has a tuning range of /spl plusmn/1000 ps/nm based on ring resonator using high-/spl Delta/ PLC technology. We have realized 1050 ps/nm dispersion compensation at 16 WDM channels simultaneously.
