This paper presents three low cost 3D printed antenna concepts for integration with a miniature mm-wave platform. The proposed solutions are optimized to operate in mm-wave ISM band (122GHz-123GHz). Different, inexpensive, detachable antennas can be used with the same platform for various RF sensing applications such as food safety, health and industrial.
This paper addresses the robustness of FM-UWB BAN radio to frequency-selective multipath and interference. Examples of the FM-UWB radio performance with IEEE802.15.6 BAN channel models are given. Robustness to interference is demonstrated and interference mitigation solutions at the physical layer of the receiver front-end are presented and illustrated with simulation results.
An interferometric radar operating between 6 and 9 GHz for non-invasive measurement of the respiration rate, is presented. An adaptive RF front-end tracks slow body movements by changing the operating frequency such that the sensing system always operates in its optimum point. Experimental results have been obtained from human beings and the good correlation between the radar signals and a reference...
Recent substantial progress in the domain of indoor positioning systems and a growing number of indoor location-based applications are creating the need for systematic, efficient, and precise experimental methods able to assess the localization and perhaps also navigation performance of a given device. With hundreds of Khepera III robots in academic use today, this platform has an important potential...
Low-complexity, low power UWB radios are required for low data rate short-range applications. FM-UWB is a constant-envelope UWB communication system using double FM: digital FSK followed by high modulation index analog FM to create a constant-envelope signal. The system is intended for low data rate (<; 250 kbps), short-range (<; 10 m) personal area network (PAN) systems. Due to its simple architecture...
A FM-UWB transceiver prototype operating in the 7.2 – 7.7 GHz band based upon 3 full-custom ICs is presented. Receiver sensitivity is −85 dBm for a BER of 10−6 at 62.5 kbps. A range of 15 meters is demonstrated under LOS conditions. Power consumption of a SoC version is estimated at 5 mW for the transmitter and 14 mW for the receiver. Subcarrier FDMA multiple access and robustness to narrowband interference...
