A continuous time analog accelerometer interface is feasible when high dynamic range together with wide signal band is required. This paper provides design data for a 120 dB accelerometer with signal band of 300 Hz. Circuit structures for an integrated interface will be presented and important sources of instabilities discussed. Measured and simulated results will be provided to support the theory.
A continuous time analog interface for a capacitive accelerometer element is implemented. The integrated part of the interface includes an oscillator and readout circuitry excluding a controller and references. For the realized sensor, the minimum equivalent acceleration noise density of 400 ng/radicHz is measured. A full scale acceleration of plusmn1.5 g and a signal bandwidth of 300 Hz is achieved...
A tunable 2 MHz to 4 MHz CMOS sinusoidal oscillator for readout of a force balanced capacitive accelerometer is presented. Amplitude stability of the carrier is considered along with frequency stability in a temperature range from -40 degC to +85 degC. Frequency and amplitude are tuned with binary weighted capacitor arrays. Amplitude related frequency drift is compensated using PTAT (proportional...
