We use an electro-optic frequency shifter in a Talbot laser to demonstrate pulse multiplication factors up to five using temporal fractional Talbot effect and achieve pulse repetition rates of tens of GHz.
Brillouin amplification is used in a frequency-shifted recirculating optical fiber loop to generate a low-noise multi-carrier optical signal. We minimize ASE noise through numerical simulations and we perform a proof-of-concept experimental demonstration.
In this paper, the energy conservation law in physics is introduced into the control prototype of boost converters. Firstly, the input and output energy and the energy changes in the reactive components in each switching cycle are analysed. Then an energy balance control (EBC) method is designed based on the energy conservation law, which is independent of converter work modes, continuous conduction...
Soft source consisting of impressing a current has been successfully added to the pseudospectral time-domain (PSTD) method in this approach. Its physical meaning well understood has been with analytical solution, and applied to numerical PSTD method. In order to increase computational efficiency, the alternating-direction-implicit (ADI) technique is used. Compared to the hard source consisting of...
An ultrasonic array system is designed for wirelessly powering and communicating with implantable medical devices. A flexible hardware interface is used to drive a 32-element linear phased array with emphasis on programmability and efficiency rather than bandwidth or peak power. Various beam patterns and data modulation schemes are verified at a depth of 6 cm in a tissue phantom with more than sufficient...
We fabricate AlGaAs nanoantennas on a glass substrate and demonstrate the highest nonlinear conversion efficiency of 10−4 with the capability for shaping the radiation patterns and polarization of the second harmonic emission in both forward and backward directions. We also decode dynamic multipolar contributions to the second harmonic generation within such nanoantennas.
We report record breaking values for PMOS source drain (S/D) contact resistivity, ρc < 10−9Ω·cm2. These were obtained by shallow Ga ion implantation on Si0.4Ge0.6 in combination with subsequent pulsed nanosecond laser anneal (NLA). Cross section transmission electron microscopy (XTEM) shows the pc reduction mechanism is based on Ga and Ge segregation towards the surface.
In this work, we report the development and realization of ultrahigh-frequency, high-performance nano interdigital transducers (n-IDTs) for generation of surface acoustic wave (SAW) on aluminum nitride (AlN)/diamond/Si substrates, where the metal fingers are embedded in the AlN film. The well-defined n-IDTs' resolution down to 200 nm were obtained using electron beam lithography, inductively coupled...
Arvo is a new programming language focuses on concurrency. Its primary goal is to provide the programmer with an simple and concise way to design concurrent systems without explicitly identifying and differentiating concurrent and sequential sections. It does this by preventing the programmer from being able to explicitly define an order between statements or expressions. Thus Arvo conceptually launches...
A time-invariant, linear, distributed observer is described for estimating the state of an m > 0 channel, n-dimensional continuous-time linear system of the form ẋ = Ax, yi = Cix, i 2 ∈ {1, 2, …, m}. The state x is simultaneously estimated by m agents assuming each agent i senses yi and receives the state zj of each of its neighbors' estimators. Neighbor relations are characterized by a constant...
In this paper, a Linear Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Machine (LFSPMM) and Rotating six-phases Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Machine (RFSPMM) are modeled and compared using FEM. The results from these models are discussed and compared with measurements, regarding shape and amplitude of the resulting back-EMF waveforms. Furthermore, by using current decoupling control algorithm, the second order...
Dispatching automation and electrical load control is a key element of building a unified strong and smart grid, smart transmission grid is the nerve center, is the foundation and an important means to maintain operation of the power production process guarantee the development of the grid. Based on the study on dispatching operation management, carrier channel and radio channels using complementary...
In this paper, design, fabrication and experimental analysis of a novel 4H-SiC pinched barrier rectifier (PBR) are presented. The operation mechanism of the pinched barrier is analyzed by numerical simulation and energy band diagrams. PN junction depth (Xj) and spacing (S) parameters in the diode structure are carefully designed to achieve a prototype optimal structure, and both forward and reverse...
In this paper, we propose a non-volatile stochastic computing (SC) scheme using voltage-controlled magnetic tunnel junction (VC-MTJ) and negative differential resistance (NDR). The proposed design includes a VC-MTJ based true stochastic bit stream generator and VC-MTJ and NDR based stochastic adder, multiplier, register, which are experimentally demonstrated using 60nm VC-MTJ and CMOS NDR connected...
Over the last few years the demand for wireless communication services has been risen beyond expectations. The operation of wireless communication is subject to limited available spectrum, thus, how to improve frequency reuse efficiency is important. Spatial division multiple access (SDMA) scheme is another mean, besides that of TDMA, FDMA and CDMA, to expand channel capacity to meet the escalating...
The next generation of implantable medical devices focuses on minimally invasive miniaturized solutions that operate reliably at large depths, provide duplex communication for closed-loop therapies, and enable multi-access for a network of implants to gather information or provide systemic interventions. Using ultrasound (US), power and data can be efficiently transferred through the body as its wavelength...
We report the first correlation measurement between the twin beams generated by optical parametric process above threshold. This high-visibility correlation can be observed at significant power levels with up to a conversion efficiency of 19.7%.
In this paper, the main conductive and radiative electromagnetic sources are introduced especially for low frequency electromagnetic sources. Systematic and equipment view of electromagnetic field in the normal operation are simulated and analyzed by Maxwell and HFSS based on FEM. This paper provides an overview of the low frequency conductive and radiative EMI and EMC for the high speed railway.
In this paper, the model of the electric vehicles (EVs) with the hybrid energy storage system (HESS) consisting of battery and super-capacitor is proposed. Using the proposed model, the operation of the EV with HESS is simulated for various energy distributions of battery and super-capacitor (SC) energy storage system. The losses of the battery and super-capacitor, the travelled distance and the ratio...
Current passing through conductor in free space of air generates magnetic field which could interfere with the other apparatus nearby or even interrupt it. Inversely, the electromagnetic sources could also be affected by reaction filed or field generated from else. Therefore, the equipment needs to be designed to both blocking and tolerating the electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic interference...
