Understanding the mechanism of tumor cell extravasation, cell migration and the role of the immunosystem is crucial in creating targeted and patient-specific cancer therapies. We created an in-vitro microfluidic cell extravasation assay, incorporating a microvascular network and demonstrated its use to study cancer cells extravasation. Separately, we developed an assay for screening T-cell migration...
The need for a blood-brain barrier (BBB) model that accurately mimics the physiological characteristics of the in-vivo situation is well-recognized by researchers in academia and industry. However, there is currently no in-vitro model allowing studies of neuronal growth and/or function influenced by factors from the blood that cross through the BBB. Therefore, we established a 3D triple co-culture...
Reasons for performing studyColostrum acts as a source of immunomodulatory molecules for the neonate. Little information is available about the transfer of cytokines via colostrum in the foal.
ObjectivesTo investigate the transfer via colostrum of IL‐4, IL‐13, IL‐8 and IFN‐γ.
Study designProspective observational study.
MethodsJugular venous blood pre‐ (T0) and post suckling (T24) and colostrum...
An original optical setup is proposed for monitoring TAN online. An integrating sphere is used for scattering-free absorption measurements. A single-wavelength interrogation scheme is proposed, which is precursor of using LED illumination. The experiment demonstrates that, depending on the lubricant oil being used, TAN can be predicted by simple optical measurements with good accuracy.
