We firstly propose a photonic radio-frequency arbitrary waveform generator based on photonic digital-to-analog conversion with pulse carving, and demonstrate 10GS/s 4-bit resolution arbitrary waveform generations with 15GHz and 30GHz up-converting.
Using carrier phase shifted-double sideband modulation, a widely tunable microwave photonic filter is implemented. The experimental results show that the method can eliminate the carrier suppression effect and improve the dynamic range.
A simple spurious-free microwave photonic filters (MPF) employing the optical frequency comb (OFC) with quadratic phase, which can be freely tuned without the rigid constraint of the Nyquist zone, is proposed and demonstrated.
A novel weighed and summing bipolar photonic digital-to-analog converter (BPDAC) scheme employing optical differential phase shift keying modulation and balanced detection is proposed and demonstrated in a proof-of-principle experiment of three-bit resolution and 2.5-GS/s conversion rate. Compared with the existing unipolar PDAC schemes, this BPDAC has a greater dynamic range and a larger noise margin...
We put forward a 2N-bit bipolar photonic digital-to-analog converter (PDAC) scheme based on multi-wavelength optical DQPSK modulation in combination with balanced detection and demonstrate it in a 2.5GS/s 4-bit PDAC experiment.
A novel 2-bit PDAC based on quadrature phase modulation and differential demodulation together with balanced detection is proposed and experimentally demonstrated at sampling rates of 2.5GS/s and 10GS/s. The simulation results of expanded 4-bit PDAC from the 2-bit PDAC unit by using two channels of incoherent light with different wavelength are presented. This PDAC scheme is simple, compact and effective...
The proposed scheme introduces electrooptical modulation for frequency down-conversion to alleviate the requirement of devices for clock recovery, which is demonstrated in an 80-Gbit/s DQPSK system. Further, an I/Q mixer as a phase discriminator is used to monitor accumulated dispersion of received signal simultaneously.
