In modern wireless communication systems and increasing other wireless applications, wider bandwidth, multilane and low profile antennas are in great demand for both commercial and military applications. Since the micro strip antenna has its various advantages like low profile, small size, inexpensive cost and ability to be integrated with VLSI design. The current paper proposes a simple, methodical...
This paper presents unsigned 2x2 High-Speed matrix multiplier using Virtex 5 ML 507 Evaluation Platform (xc5vfx70t-1ff1136) FPGA. The hierarchical structuring has been used to optimize for multipliers using "Urdhava Trigyagbhyam" sutra (vertically and crosswise) which is one of the sutra for Vedic mathematics. Each element of matrix is represented by 16-bit.The coding has been done using...
In recent years the use of nonlinear load has been increased exponentially which results in poor power quality. The distorted wave-shapes of voltage and current can upset the end user equipments. Hence it is necessary to measure these harmonics correctly which is common type of distortion that repeats every cycle.Harmonics in the distribution sector are typically measured using standard power analyzer...
In this paper, speaker verification system using Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) is proposed. The proposed system consists of pre-processing, feature extraction, modelling and classification stage. The pre-processing is used to remove silent part of signal to reduce computational complexity. Pitch frequency and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients(MFCC)are used as a feature vector for speaker verification...
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems have been numerously developed for the recognition of printed script in many languages. Multiple approaches to pre-processing and segmentation exist for various scripts where OCR accuracy mainly depends on the text pre-processing and segmentation algorithm being used for the document. When the document is scanned it can be put in any arbitrary angle which...
In this paper, it is investigated that how vertical wind speed affects acoustic parametric array sound field by theoretical derivation and analysis. It is proved that sound pressure distribution of acoustic parametric array acoustic field by experiment test, and the influence on the sound pressure distribution under different wind speed is analyzed. Moreover, corresponding experiments have been done,...
The Indian educational system caters to a diverse population. This diversity adds to the complexity and hence requires the support of technology to reach out to the masses. The Government has launched a lot of initiatives for the adoption of technology in education. Despite these efforts, there has been a gap in the actual adoption. In this paper we present the results of our study of current trends...
This survey paper is intended to provide an overview of the main ad hoc paradigms that can be applied to disaster response networks, highlighting their applicability to important tasks in disaster relief operations. In this way, we also review the main works found in the literature which employed ad hoc networks in disaster scenarios. Finally, we provide open challenges and future research directions...
The quality factor of microstrip line resonators made of 20/50/20 nm Nb/NbN/Nb trilayer films has been calculated as microwave transmission through the cascade of three single layers, and in agreement with experimental data. Each layer is evaluated with an explicit extended Zimmermann expression. The formula is generalized from the standard expression by including electron mean free path and the imaginary...
Broadcast schemes play an important role in the performance of mobile ad hoc networks. They are widely used as a dissemination mechanism and as a part of the discovery phase of routing protocols. The simple flooding algorithm is the usual mechanism employed in mobile ad hoc networks, but it has been demonstrated its inefficiency in congested scenarios due to the high number of collisions and contentions...
UV-induced bulk degradation in LBO crystals was discovered. Long term generation of third or fourth harmonics of Yb pulsed fiber laser result in to bulk defects formation. Different approaches were used to visualize them and estimate their dimensions. The defects microstructure was observed by using the dark field method. Optical absorption in the crystals with defects was measured by using photothermal...
We report a new approach to the terahertz frequency comb spectroscopy (TFCS) based on nonlinear mixing of a photonically generated terahertz pulse train with a continuous wave signal from an electronic synthesizer. Unlike the standard TFCS technique, this approach does not require a complex double laser system. It still retains the advantages of TFCS - high spectral resolution and wide bandwidth.
Theoretical modeling of the input signal in the Laser Doppler Flowmetry was carried out taking into account the effect of amplitude modulation of the reference beam. The deposit of the amplitude modulation in the total detected signal can be of the same order or more than the magnitude of the light-beating Doppler-shifted part of the total signal.
An optimization framework is proposed to plan a sensor network in hospital environments aimed at tracking medical assets. The framework is based on three modules: the first module defines the critical levels of the hospital locations based on the assets movements and criticality; the second module models the coverage characteristics of the sensors; the third module, based on the outputs of the previous...
This paper describes recognition of monophonic isolated sounds of stringed musical instruments using fractional fourier transform (FRFT) based MFCC features and Linear discriminant analysis (LDA). Performance of the system has been compared using conventional features like MFCC, Timbrel, Wavelet and Spectral features with proposed features based on FRFT and LDA. In proposed features FRFT has been...
Thermographic phosphors are often used to measure temperatures in harsh thermal environments because of their non-contact nature, chemical and thermal robustness, and independence on radiative properties [1]. Because spectral emission from the visible region is used to indicate temperature, black-body radiation from high-temperature surfaces can obscure the measurement signal. The 365 nm emission...
This paper presents a low voltage, low power CMOS OTA that can be used in high frequency applications. The basic topology using differential input single output OTA is simulated in TSMC 90nm CMOS process technology. The simulation results indicate high bandwidth, greater than 10GHz with 0.721mW power consumption and the transconductance of -69.78dB. The total harmonic distortion for 100mV input at...
In this paper, we propose a new cross layer routing metric that estimates the interference, load and delay of a link efficiently for multi-radio Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) to improve the performance. WMNs are an emerging technology and are used as a backhaul networks to connect to the internet. These networks employ Multi-Channel Multiple Radio (MCMR) mechanisms to achieve high performance. But,...
Opportunistic networks are mobile networks that rely on the store-carry-and-forward paradigm, using contacts between nodes to opportunistically transfer data. For this reason, traditional routing mechanisms are no longer suitable. To increase the success of successful message delivery, different probability-based techniques were previously studies by various authors. Here we address the question of...
