The main features of the morphological structure changes during monolayer compression of 1-O-hexadecyl-rac-glycerol are studied by Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). Images of the monolayer related to the corresponding points of the π-A-isotherms are presented and discussed. The results are compared with those obtained for 1-monopalmitoyl-rac-glycerol having only small distinctions in the chemical structure.
The monolayer morphologies of 1-monopalmitoyl-rac-glycerol at the air-water interface are studied at the microscopic level using Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). BAM images are recorded simultaneously with the π - A isotherms to obtain information on the two-dimensional phase behavior. Condensed-phase domains of 1-monoglycerides exhibit a 7-fold substructure, which is analyzed according to a geometric...
