Monitoring cognitive workload from speech signals has received a lot of attention from researchers in the past few years as it has the potential to improve performance and fidelity in human decision making. The bulk of the research has focused on classifying speech from talkers participating in cognitive workload experiments using simple reading tasks, memory span tests and the Stroop test, typically...
Artifact-centric modeling has become an alternative, yet promising approach of business process (BP) modeling and management as it provides higher flexibility than that of traditional activity-centric approaches. However, existing BP execution engines require artifact-centric models be transformed to executable activity-centric BP languages (e.g., BPEL) in order to be executed and managed. We argue...
Data leakage has become a problem of epidemic proportions with very serious consequences for businesses and their customers. Experts warn that it is very difficult for organisations to avoid infiltration and that they should be prepared for such events. Proactive detection of ongoing attacks is therefore critically important. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of Peeper, a policy...
The version of the modification of the classic bearing Capon's algorithm is presented to determine the position (the bearing and the distance) of the sources of radiation and their subsequent spatial selection as in the far and in the near and intermediate wave zones of the antenna array for analysis by the monitoring system.
In this work we report the final results of the field demonstration of the European FP7 mPlane project concerning the evaluation of the network performance with particular details regarding the access Quality of Service and traffic monitoring. We show how the proposed and experimented architecture of this measurement plane is fundamental for many future internet evolutions concerning user perception,...
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a method of choosing optical delay time by calculating normalized autocorrelation function of channel noise to achieve optimal OSNR monitoring performance. Up to 29 dB monitoring range with error ≤±0.5 dB for 112 Gbit/s PM-QPSK signal is obtained. We also demonstrate the method is applicable to the filters with different bandwidths and different shapes.
Information security management is a complicated task in cloud environment. Cloud service layers and multi-tenant architecture have created a complicated environment for developing and managing a monitoring and incident response environment in organizations. The main goal of this paper is to receive and analyze events from OpenStack environment. Events and system logs are received from OpenStack environment...
We propose a correlation framework for fault localization, leveraging information from established lightpaths. This functionality is integrated in a reactive control plane employing a lightpath establishment algorithm to unambiguously localize failed link.
Prairie voles are socially monogamous rodents that form social bonds similar to those seen in primates. Social behavior investigation in these species, that include studying their breathing regulation, can provide us with an invaluable psychological model to understand social and emotional functions in both animals and humans. There have been several studies associated with the respiratory pattern...
In this study, a c-VEP based BCI system was developed to run on three distinctive pseudorandom sequences, namely the m-code, the Gold-code, and the Barker-code. The Visual Evoked Potentials (VEPs) were provoked using these codes. In the online session, subjects controlled a Mindstorms® robot around a fixed track. Choosing the optimal code proved a significant increase in accuracy (p<0.00001) over...
With the development of power monitoring technology, more and more real-time data are accumulated in power system. Due to large amount and high dimension of monitoring data, traditional data analysis methods are often unable to discover the hidden rules and complex relationships between monitoring data and fault reasons. In recent years, data mining techniques have been successfully applied in many...
Monitoring the milk quality is of fundamental importance in the food industry since milk is one of the most common product in a daily diet. The control of milk composition and detection of adulteration in raw materials are crucial in order to assure the quality of dairy based products. Different technologies for the monitoring of milk constituents in substitution of chemical processes have been reported...
In order for any obesity therapy to be successful real behavior change by the individual is required. We present an implantable obesity therapy that combines gastric electrical stimulation for satiety with onboard sensors that provide self-monitoring for the patient and compliance reporting to the clinician. An algorithm for processing data from the onboard three axis accelerometer for use in physical...
Scientific studies have demonstrated that an atypical respiratory rate (RR) is frequently one of the earliest and major indicators of physiological distress. However, it is also described in the literature as “the neglected vital parameter”, mainly due to shortcomings of clinical available monitoring techniques, which require attachment of sensors to the patient's body. The current paper introduces...
The recent past years have seen a noticeable increase of interest in the correlation analysis of electrohysterographic (EHG) signals in the perspective of improving the pregnancy monitoring. Here we propose a new approach based on the functional connectivity between multichannel (4×4 matrix) EHG signals recorded from the women's abdomen. The proposed pipeline includes i) the computation of the statistical...
Trust model has been suggested as an effective security mechanism in distributed network environment. Considerable researches have been done on trust evaluation and trust prediction. Traditional methods take the historical behavior data into consideration to predict the trust value of the network entity. However, the context of the network entity is seldom taken into account. It is obvious that the...
Ankle edema an important symptom for monitoring patients with chronic systematic diseases. It is an important indicator of onset or exacerbation of a variety of diseases that disturb cardiovascular, renal, or hepatic system such as heart, liver, and kidney failure, diabetes, etc. The current approaches toward edema assessment are conducted during clinical visits. In-clinic assessments, in addition...
In order to extract the horizontal synchronization information of stochastic video signal and reconstruct video image stably and automatically, the computer video signal captured from the video cable will be analyzed and the method of correlation of stochastic video signal is put forward in this paper. Without synchronization information and resolution information of the monitors, the video images...
The paper presents a feasibility study on the possible bioradar devices usage for contactless monitoring of the respiratory rhythm of sleeping or anesthetized laboratory animals. Experiments were performed in laboratory conditions on an anaesthetized rat by using a monochromatic radar operating at a frequency of 7.0 GHz. Respiration pattern of a rat was monitored simultaneously by the radar and standard...
Parkinson's disease patients develop several impairments related to the speech production process. The deficits of the speech of the patients include reduction in the phonation, articulation, prosody and intelligibility capabilities. Related studies have analyzed the phonation, articulation and prosody of the patients with Parkinson's, while the intelligibility impairments have not been enough evaluated...
