Using a three-dimensional device simulator, we evaluate the single event upset probability of spin-transfer torque magnetic random access memory (STT-MRAM) supposing various radiation conditions such as linear energy transfer and incident direction. It is shown that STT-MRAM has enough tolerance for the radiation on the ground considering typical MTJ parameters for the present MRAM technology.
This paper deals with a computing simulation for an offshore wind energy system taking into account the influence of the marine waves action throughout the floating platform. The wind energy system has a variable-speed turbine equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous generator and a full-power fivelevel converter, injecting energy into the electric grid through a high voltage alternate current...
The aim of this paper is to design a torque sensorless controller for a human-electric hybrid bicycle. The human input torque is estimated using the disturbance observer to design the controller for electric motor to assist the cyclist based on the requirement. The closed loop stability is ensured for various assist condition as per the standard. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed...
This paper presents a new vertical axis propeller, which combines the turbine with the rudder and can generate thrust in all directions. It describes the modelling of the vertical axis propeller and presents the results of simulations under various conditions. The two-dimensional (2D) simulations investigate the influence of parameters such as advance coefficient, blade number and spacing distance...
The paper deals with the electronic stabilization system (ESP) proposal. This system provides stability of the vehicle in critical or unpredictable situations, which driver could not manage or could manage with troubles. It is a system that increases active safety of the vehicle. A lot of necessary scanners and active elements were surveyed. Based on these findings, the optimal versions of all the...
Switched reluctance starter/generator has stronger competition ability in the hybrid system by reason of the large starting torque, easy to switch from electric to power, high power density, wide speed range, high efficiency, high reliability, low cost, etc. In order to improve the performance of switched reluctance starter/generator system, the master switch angle is needed to optimize. In this paper,...
This paper presents a control strategy for a brushless DC motor (BLDCM) drive with a new converter topology. The new topology is based on the conventional voltage-fed inverter, but includes an additional source such as a capacitor or a battery, and requires connection to the BLDCM neutral. The objective of the proposed control strategy is to control the otherwise unregulated voltage across the additional...
This paper presents the modeling and performance analysis of a hysteresis IPM motor drive for electric submersible pumps (ESPs). The purpose of this paper is to extend the run-life of the downhole ESPs in offshore oil recovery plants by introducing a more reliable and more efficient submersible hysteresis IPM motor drive into the existing ESP technology. An adjustable speed controller has been designed...
In this study, a bicycle-rider system was developed. Model predictive control (MPC) is used to control the system follows reference roll-angle. Control inputs are steering torque on the handle bar and the leaning torque of rider's upper body. The performance of the controller, the interaction between rider's motion and the bicycle dynamics are discussed via simulation results.
A recently developed control method for multiphase induction machine drives termed the Brush-DC Equivalent control has presented a simpler control strategy that does not use any complex transformations. It has been implemented using a hysteresis current controller and in this paper, a delta modulated current control technique is presented. Delta modulation is proposed in to replace hysteresis control...
A new integrated mathematical model for the simulation of an offshore wind system having a rectifier input voltage malfunction at one phase is presented in this paper. The mathematical model considers an offshore variable-speed wind turbine on a floating platform, equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous generator using full-power three-level converter to inject energy into the electric network,...
We have developed the robotic vehicle on water that moves by the rider's balance. Previously, due to the lack of stability of the vehicle, balancing skill was required for the rider. In general, the center of buoyancy of the floating body influences on the stability. Therefore, in this paper, the floating vehicle was modeled and the appropriate body shape and size that improves the stability was simulated...
In this paper, different Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller tuning techniques are investigated for DC motor. Initially PID controller parameters for various tuning techniques are determined and then applied to the DC motor model for speed control. Simulation results are generated, using these controllers, under the same transient conditions and performances are compared.
In transportation, BLDC motors are required to have high torque. This BLDC electric motor is designed to drive an electric car. Increased torque can be done in many ways one of which is the selection of the stator material. Effect on the generated torque can be studied by replacing its stator materials. Design was begun with determining the electrical circuit and the coil for the excitation power...
According to the characteristics of two software Labview and Matlab, this paper presents a co-simulation method of Labview and Matlab. This method will combine the advantages of both software by mixing programming and co-simulation. Through the example of Direct Torque Control (DTC) fuzzy controlling, this paper introduces the design of the fuzzy controller in the Labview, and describes a method to...
A hysteresis interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor is a solid-rotor self-starting synchronous motor. Its rotor has a hysteresis ring made of composite material with high degree of hysteresis energy per unit volume. The Neodymium Boron Iron (Nd-B-Fe) magnets are buried inside the hysteresis ring. This paper presents the analytical modeling of a hysteresis IPM motor to investigate its starting and synchronization...
The utilization of low power permanent magnet synchronous motors for driving electromechanical equipments means a substantial decrease of the exploitation expenses, because these motors have good efficiency and power factor. The optimal design of these motors aims at searching and choosing that machine which to the criterion minimum total cost and to certain restrictive correspond conditions imposed...

In this paper a novel adaptive Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) control scheme of an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is introduced. To avoid an on- or off-line numerical calculation of the reference current for the MTPA curve, a reference model of the torque which is equivalent to the IPMSM with zero d-axis current is utilized to enforce the torque of the IPMSM towards its reference...
