To diagnose the specific reasons that lead to deterioration of controller performance and improve the diagnostic accuracy, a performance diagnosis method based on eigenvector subspace K-mean clustering is proposed. Firstly, the number of standard deterioration performance subspace with different degrees of deterioration information is increased on the basis of the eigenvector subspace distance diagnosis...
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), also known as Blue-tooth Smart, is part of the Bluetooth 4.0 Core specifications, introduced in June 2010 by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). BLE is designed as a radio standard that minimizes power consumption and it is particularly suited for low cost, low bandwidth, low power, and low complexity applications. These aspects of the standard represent the reasons...
For runtime verification techniques, the most important part that limits its usage is how to reduce the influence of monitors. An important indicator is the amount of software codes after monitor instrumentation. The application of RV is hindered from the size-explosion problem of monitor construction. Namely, the state number of the monitor obtained is doubly exponential in the size of the input...
In this paper, after a brief introduction on the developed plug-and-play (PnP) process monitoring and control architecture, a decentralized plug-and-play (PnP) process monitoring system for large-scale industrial processes is studied. And then, aiming at lower online computational load and more flexible industrial implementation, a decentralized adaptive configuration technique is further developed...
With the increasing deployments of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) in both industry and academia, it becomes necessary to design mechanisms for keeping the integrity of Service Function Chains (SFC) responsible for NFV services delivering. Despite the advances in the development of management and orchestration for NFV, solutions to keep SFCs resilient to well-known and zero-day threats are...
The Internet Of Things (IoT) is poised to make substantial inroads in all aspects of modern life before the end of this decade, including applications in smart grids, smart cities, transportation, crowdsensing, e-health, ambient assisted living, and home automation, to list just a few. Although it is recognized that IoTSec mechanisms and principles are needed across the entire IoT ecosystem, many...
Traffic anomalies can create network congestion, so its prompt and accurate detection would allow network operators to make decisions to guarantee the network performance avoiding services to experience any perturbation. In this paper, we focus on origin-destination (OD) traffic anomalies; to efficiently detect those, we study two different anomaly detection methods based on data analytics and combine...
This paper takes an unsupervised learning approach for monitoring edge activity within an enterprise computer network. Using NetFlow records, features are gathered across the active connections (edges) in 15-minute time windows. Then, edges are grouped into clusters using the k-means algorithm. This process is repeated over contiguous windows. A series of informative indicators are derived by examining...
Service Function Chaining (SFC) serves the traffic of a specific service along an ordered set of Service Functions (SFs). SFC uses Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies to reach the deployment and removal of SFC in an appropriate time with minimal costs. However, during the life time of deployed SFCs, the SFs are exposed to the risk of overloading,...
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are specialized computing systems for the control and monitoring of distributed industrial devices. Aiming for a highly connected industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) ecosystem, PLCopen OPC Unified Architecture (UA) specification has been released. This paper presents the implementation and evaluation of a PLCopen OPC-UA software component for industrial control...
Abstract-Application delays caused by abnormal tasks arecommon problems in big data computing frameworks. Anabnormal task in Spark, which may run slowly withouterror or warning logs, not only reduces its resident node’sperformance, but also affects other nodes’ efficiency.Spark log files report neither root causes of abnormal tasks, nor where and when abnormal scenarios happen. AlthoughSpark provides...
This paper presents a video quality monitoring platform for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service providers that rapidly detects the source of a possible low quality for their broadcasted programs. The platform monitors both the video quality and the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. The test measurements were performed on channel 54, transmitted with Digital Video Broadcasting — Terrestrial...
The concept of Extension Headers, newly introduced with IPv6, is elusive and enables new types of threats in the Internet. Simply dropping all traffic containing any Extension Header — a current practice by operators-seemingly is an effective solution, but at the cost of possibly dropping legitimate traffic as well. To determine whether threats indeed occur, and evaluate the actual nature of the traffic,...
The Authorities that are responsible for the design and management of infrastructures have an increasing need of information and support in order to optimize their work, save money, time, and, sometimes (e.g., in case of disastrous events), lives. Technological development is leading to new possibilities, in terms of new technologies increasingly available, widespread, reliable and inexpensive and...
An intelligent condition based monitoring system needs to have a communication subsystem for consensus among the devices of that system. Development of such a communication system has to follow an industry oriented universally acceptable standard protocol. Having universal acceptability, MTConnect is potentially most effective, efficient and sustainable protocol for this purpose. This paper presents...
Open Platform Communication (OPC) also known as Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) for Process Control (OPC) is the platform for communication in automation and manufacturing fields among the group of networked devices. OPC standard supports the group of specifications known as OPC-Data Access (OPC-DA), OPC-Historical Data Access (OPC-HDA) and OPC-Unified Architecture (OPC-UA). In this paper, the...
Service systems in upcoming application domains like the Internet of Things (IoT) have a high demand for dynamic changes of provided service quality and related pricing. Changes can be requested by service consumers to address adjusted requirements at application level or by service providers to accommodate resource constraints. Anyway, traditional approaches to handle Service Level Agreements (SLA)...
Drowsy driving is the primary cause of motor vehicle accidents and is a risk factor that leads to the loss of human life, remaining as a challenge for the global automotive industry. Recently, drowsy monitoring system has been actively studied for prediction system based machine learning. However, the challenges of automotive real-time constraints and flexibility should be taken into consideration...
An FFE TX which automatically adapts impedance to arbitrary channel and RX impedances is proposed. Based on on-chip TDR monitoring, the TX impedance matching is adaptively relaxed without increasing reflection. In experiment, the proposed TX adapted to any combination of 35–75Ω channels and 30–200Ω RX impedances, achieving 3.8x eye improvement and the maximum data rate of 12Gb/s.
This paper summarizes the work performed by the authors on development of the sensor network for thermal parameters measurements, as well as structure health monitoring in modern buildings. The described work was carried out as a part of a workpackage within the EC FP7 project SESBE.
