We herein investigate the design of a tapered slot antenna (TSA) that is divided into a radiator and a feeding circuit (balun). We measured the differential component and common component of the surface current on the TSA in a previous study. Moreover, we measured the radiation patterns of the radiator and the balun in order to discuss the radiation of the TSA. In particular, the differential component...
In this article, the ability of a single layer printed modified folded asymmetric dipole antenna, which is composed of two asymmetric radiated loops (there are slotted ground-trace in each loop) and asymmetric feeding structure, to operate at three wide frequency bands (2300∼2690MHz, 3000∼3600MHz and 4900∼6000MHz) to cover WLAN and LTE operation has been demonstrated. A prototype of the proposed antenna...
In this paper the analysis of tilted slots, milled on both the broad walls of a twisted waveguide is presented. Based on the design a twisted waveguide slot antenna has been fabricated and measured. Simulated data show good agreement with measured data. The proposed antenna shows measured −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 24.64% (9.32–11.94 GHz) and simulated gain of 10.4 dBi.
A novel vertically polarized omnidirectional printed slot loop antenna has been designed, simulated, fabricated and measured. The slot loop works as a magnetic loop. The loop is loaded with inductors to insure uniform and in-phase fields in the slot in order to obtain an omnidirectional radiation pattern. The antenna is designed for the 2.45 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical band. Applications...
The UTD is generalized for analyzing the coupling between say, monopole and slot antennas, placed on a locally convex platform, and in a frequency band which is significantly higher than the antenna resonant frequency.
In this paper, we investigate the effect of edge corrugations on the improvement of the front-to-back ratio (F/B ratio) for the antipodal dual exponentially tapered slot antennas (DETSA). While the inclusion of the corrugation did not have much effect on the peak gain of the antenna, the improvement came mainly from the suppression of the back-lobe levels. A new configuration for the edge corrugation...
A microstrip-fed folded dual-band slot antenna with further reduced size is presented. The antenna works for two bands which are 880MHz–960MHz and 1710MHz–2690MHz. what's more, the folded slot antenna just occupies a relative small size for wireless communication application about 28mm by 90mm by 4.8mm (W*L*H). Good agreements between simulation and testing results are achieved. As a balance mode...
A very wideband slot antenna with reconfigurable stopband is presented. The reconfiguration is achieved by modifying the effective length of an embedded stopband-resonator by means of three pairs of PIN diodes. Four different operative states - three of them with a stopband notch and one with the full antenna bandwidth matched - are achieved depending on which PIN diodes pair is forward biased. The...
In this paper, a CPW-fed monopole-like slot antenna with a T-shaped feeding stub has been proposed for UWB applications. The low cost antenna prototype on FR4 PCB has achieved good performance in terms of good impedance matching, consistent gain, stable radiation patterns, and consistent group delay over operating frequency band of 3.0-14.3 GHz (130.6%) with an overall size of 25 mm x 25 mm x 0.8128...
Modern mobile handset devices are required to operate at multiple frequency bands so as to provide various services [1,2]. As is well known, for the future mobile communication systems (the emerging third generation or beyond), the frequency band around 2 GHz is very wide (GSM1850, GSM1900, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro), in addition to existing GSM bands around 900 MHz. Additionally, Bluetooth and WLAN systems...
