An incremental delta-sigma modulator with a self-making capacitor having a high voltage operating ability for a 12-cell battery pack is proposed in this paper. The measured voltage range for each battery is from 0 to 5 V, and the maximum input voltage reaches to 60 V. The self-making capacitor adopting a metal over poly silicon with a relatively thin layer of oxide between the two plates is generated...
Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives include several design and control variables that affect power losses. The improvement in system efficiency through control techniques will reduce the size of inverter and motor cooling system as well as the operating costs of the system. Mixed modulation method is proposed to balance dc voltage, and enables Si devices & wide bandgap devices integration to reduce power loss and achieve high power density. Simulation results are firstly provided to verify the validity of the proposed approach.
A new technique to reduce the clock jitter effect on single-bit continuous-time delta-sigma modulators (CTDSM) is proposed. It utilizes a delay line to generate N highly correlated clock sources to reconstruct the feedback waveform. Theoretical analysis show that the jitter-induced random noise power is reduced by a factor of 1/N2. Simulation results confirming the analysis are reported.
In this paper, a vertical physical-layer network coding (VPNC) scheme based pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) for two-way relay channel (TWRC) is proposed. Different from the conventional physical layer network coding (PNC) scheme in which the relay superimposes two users' signals of the same constellation, in the proposed VPNC scheme two users transmit PAM signals with vertical constellation and the...
In order to achieve the integration of ac/dc output in the aircraft power system, a novel single-input/dual-output indirect matrix converter (IMC) is proposed in this paper. Based on the fact that a real dc-link is formed in IMC, the proposed topology realizes dc output by inserting a simple two transistor forward converter (TTFC) into the dc-link. Its modulation strategy is composed of two parts,...
This paper proposes the use of FIR+SC DAC in sigma delta modulator is an approach to balance insensitivity to clock jitter noise and power efficiency. An example is implemented in UMC 180nm technology and simulation results show that it achieves SNDR 77.2dB and 83 μW power consumption in 100kHz bandwidth, which corresponds to FoMw 71fJ/conv.
Dual-active-bridge (DAB) DC-DC isolated converter is widely used in many applications e.g. power supplies, transportations and renewable power systems. In this paper, general modulation characterization and optimization of DAB converters have been analyzed and advanced modulation methods are proposed. Simulations and experiments are implemented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed modulation...
The light emitted diode (LED) technology can be used for both data transmission and lighting in Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems. This work presents a new modulator architecture for Overlapping Pulse Position Modulation (OPPM) to provide data transmission by using LEDs. The parameter of OPPM can be changed in modulation process hence the OPPM scheme has an adjustable structure. Additionally,...
In order to solve the conventional direct torque control contradiction between the dynamic and static performance, a permanent magnet synchronous motor system direct torque control architecture is proposed based on space vector modulation strategy. In this method flux and torque are controlled through stator voltage components in stator fluxlinkage coordinate axes and space vector modulation is used...
In this paper, a low-power four-quadrant current multiplier based on the electronically and linearly tunable CMOS transconductors (EOTAs) is presented. The design technique is realized by using only two EOTAs as active circuit elements. The proposed current multiplier can operate for four quadrants with wide input dynamic range. The performances of the proposed current multiplier are tested on PSPICE...
In the paper, we propose a new method, namely Random Filtering Mapping (RFM), through which the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the Generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) signal is reduced. Then, the improved signal is transmitted through the Radio Over Fiber (ROF) system of Single SideBand (SSB) modulation and optical fiber of 60Km. The simulation results show that the PAPR of the...
This paper Introduces a novel voltage vector generation method for fixed switching frequency scheme of a finite-control set model predictive control (FS-MPC). The main feature of the proposed work is to search the optimum voltage vector responsible of minimizing the cost function. A novel algorithm based on two searching loops is introduced, the first loop optimizes the voltage vector angle while...
A 2nd-order ΔΣAD modulator architecture is proposed to simplify the operation mode using ring amplifier and SAR quantizer. Proposed modulator architecture can guarantee the reset time for ring amplifier and relax the speed requirement on asynchronous SAR quantizer. The SPICE simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed 2nd-order modulator in 90nm CMOS technology. Simulated SNDR of...

A carrier-based modulation (CBM) method is proposed for indirect matrix converters (IMC) to reduce common-mode voltage (CMV). The proposed method is developed by utilizing two triangle carriers with opposite phase, and the phase with the minimum absolute output voltage uses the different carrier. The range of zero-sequence signals is given, and the selection of zero-sequence signals and the arrangement...
This paper proposes a new virtual space vector modulation (VSVM) scheme that can eliminate the common-mode voltage (CMV) for three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverters with balanced neutral-point voltage. The proposed VSVM scheme is based on the virtual space vector concept, which constructs the virtual vectors from the original medium vectors to achieve zero CMV. Moreover, the neutral-point...
