This paper proposes a new dimension order routing algorithm for Mesh-of-Tree based Network-on-Chip design. It simplifies the router design as well. It results in significant saving in the energy consumed by the network. For uniform traffic, the saving is as high as 63%. It offers the flexibility of designing routers of different sizes for mapping of applications.
Networks-on-Chips (NoCs) provides an efficient architectural paradigm as interconnect for state-of-the-art Chip Multi-processors (CMPs). With the increasing development of novel applications in NoCs, one-to-many (multicast) or one-to-all (broadcast) communications are becoming universal and indispensable. The performance constraint metrics, such as power consumption and network latency, are often...
This paper present a new dimension-oriented routing algorithm for Mesh-of-tree (MoT) based Network-on-Chip (NoC) architecture. The addressing scheme is considerably simplified that enables us to reduce the minimum flit-size to 16-bits, compared to 32-bits in the previously reported works. The same level of throughput and average latency could be achieved with a 43.86% reduction in area and 43% reduction...
Flow control in Network on Chip (NoC) is critical because unbalanced transmission process and congestion in nodes can affect on-chip performance: communication latency, throughput and heat accumulation. To achieve the goal to balance on-chip communication load, we present a distributed routing scheme named RIPNoC (Router Information Piggybacking Routing Scheme for NoC). This routing scheme provides...
Several NoC routing schemes proposals targeting overall performance optimization are available in the literature. However, such proposals do not differentiate the application flows. The goal here is to demonstrate that adaptive routing algorithms can be used in flows with temporal constraints, enabling an enhanced degree of path exploration. The main contribution of this work is to expose the routing...
Because introducing new protocols and services, e. g., multicast or IPv6, on a global scale has proven to be difficult for various reasons, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems have become a method of choice for introducing innovation in the Internet. Such systems create Overlay Networks consisting of logical connections between end-systems at the edge of the Internet, do not require any supporting infrastructure,...
Traditional single-next-hop routing algorithms always chose the best path to routing, which often brought transport congestion. It can not sufficiently utilize network resource and can not flexibly distribute traffic. Compared to the traditional single-next hop routing, multi-next hop routing have more advantages. It can implement packets forwarding in parallel, while preserves the best-effort model...
Mobile agents are often used in wireless sensor networks for distributed target detection with the goal of minimizing the transmission of non-critical data that negatively affects the performance of the network. A challenge is to find optimal mobile agent routes for minimizing the data path loss and the sensors energy consumption as well as maximizing the data accuracy. Existing approaches deal with...
Network-on-chip (NoC) architectures have been recently proposed as the communication framework for large-scale chips. The design of the routing system for the packet-switched on-chip network is one of the critical issues for the success of NoC architectures, especially when there are faulty components in the network. In this paper, we present a routing technique that uses an embedded tree for mesh...
Cluster technology has witnessed a tremendous inception in computing world. The technique integrates the standard computing resources to generate more processing power and other hardware strengths. The collection of interconnected stand-alone computers ensures high availability, increased throughput, scalability and improved performance. We have developed a dynamic cluster based approach for high...
Access to Internet is still a challenge in the area without fully network-coverage. Limited to a predictable environment (such as trains), the problem can be simplify and be solved partially with the proposed general k-anycast routing and Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networking (Ganycast). How to forward the packets efficiently is core issue of Ganycast. Access router information matrixes were proposed...
3D IC technology drives Network-On-Chip (NoC) design on towards 3D trend and relevant multi-core system further development. However, most recent researches still focus on the fundamental 3D Mesh structure and have no convincible traffic pattern models in realistic applications. In this paper, we p resent a complete design framework of a Distributed Shared Memory homogenous multi-core system based...
The demand for faster failure-recovery in pure intra-domain IP networks has led to the development of several IP Fast ReRoute (IPFRR) mechanisms. However, these mechanisms are all either too computationally expensive, or fail to provide satisfiable protection coverage. For these reasons, IPFRR schemes have yet to see widespread commercial deployment. In this paper, we present a new IPFRR mechanism...
Structured P2P system doesn't consider the actual physical topology when building the logical overlay, which would cause a serious mismatching between logical overlay network and physical network and affect the routing performance of the system. An advanced algorithm of K-bucket updating strategy base on structured Kademlia system was proposed. Using Landmark Binning algorithm and RTT detection will...
Ternary Content Addressable Memories (CAMs) are widely used in high-speed routers. They allow a longest-prefix matching operation to complete within a single clock cycle. However, TCAMs are costly and their power consumption is very high. In this paper, we identify two kinds of redundancy in the usage of TCAMs in IP route lookup, and propose a hybrid scheme which combines Binary CAMs and Ternary CAMs...
Ternary content addressable memories (TCAMs) are becoming very popular due to the simple-to-design IP lookup units included in high-speed routers; they are fast and simple to manage, and they provide a one-clock lookup solution. However, a major drawback of TCAM-based IP lookup schemes lies in their high power consumption. Thus, the rapid increase of routing tables inevitably deteriorates TCAM power...
By analyzing existed improved DHT networks, we propose a novel improved CAN: PPCAN, which adopt 2-dimensional Polar coordinate and power series expand subspace hops to obtain better routing efficiency and lower maintenance cost. Then, we introduce the Landmarks to optimize the relay sequenced peers through the hops. Our design can be implemented entirely at the application level. Some improved routing...
This paper describes migration strategies in optical networks. It is expected that the conversion of current transport networks (IP/MPLS over SDH) into more packet oriented (IP/MPLS over Ethernet) technologies will result in significant cost savings for network operators. The state space of a migrating network can be modeled as a directed graph. To find the optimal migration path within this state...
To solve the problems of congestion and fault tolerance for global communication management in network on chip (NoC), a novel dynamic routing scheme base on network monitor called DyRS-NM, is proposed for NoC application. DyRS-NM has the ability to locate dynamic congested or faulty links to detour them based on the overall network status values collected by network monitor, and also can balance the...
State of the art VLSI systems are characterised by their small, deca-nano feature size. In order to accommodate the complexity and scalability, a new design paradigm, system on chip (SoC) has been introduced. Performance and power of giga-scale SoC is ever more communication-dominated. However typical SoC communication infrastructure is based in standard buses and protocols which are difficult to...
