The development of carbon nanotube (CNT)-based sensors remains an active area of research. Towards this end, a new method for manipulating CNTs, assembling CNT networks and fabricating CNT-based nanosensors was demonstrated in this study. CNTs were collected and concentrated by optically-induced dielectrophoresis (ODEP) forces and aligned between a pair of electrodes. This assembly was then used directly...
The generation of microbubbles using localized microwatt heating of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is presented in this paper. Dielectrophoretic force is used to form CNTs between micrometal electrodes. The improvement for our CNTs heater is that a thin aligned SiO2 film is employed to fix contact between metal electrodes and the CNTs, in order to decrease the heat loss from metal electrodes. The localized...
This paper reports on the preparation of nano-structured of MgxZn1-xO thin films by sol-gel spin coating method which will be used as a template layer to grow carbon nanotubes. The MgxZn1-xO films were deposited on Pt/Si (100) substrates. In this work, we focused on the effect of sol aging and Mg content on the film structure and resistivity. Sols with Mg content of x = 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 were subjected...
Conventional packaging technology has been replaced in line with the miniaturization trends of the product designs in electronic industry. A polymer resin needs to suit to certain polymer processing methods in order to achieve substantial performance in terms of mechanical, thermal, optical, electrical and so forth. In this study, an epoxy based thin film composite was successfully fabricated by using...
This paper presents synthesis and characterization of conducting polypyrrole-multi-walled carbon nanotube films co-depositing onto nickel electrode substrate. The electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole is performed in 100ml aqueous solution containing 0.2M pyrrole, 0.05M AOT and 0.01g multiwalled carbon nanotubes using three-electrode system. The SEM and cyclic voltammetry analysis show that the...
Results of SEM characterization of CNT film grown on nanoporous silicon (NP-Si) plate covered with 2 step PVD/CVD layer are presented. SEM studies were performed for all stages of CNT film preparation process. It was found that the size of pores in NP-Si affects the final CNT film form and adhesion.
In this paper, intense pulsed field emission of carbon nanotube film grown on electroless plated Ni substrate is presented. Ni substrate used for CNT film growth was prepared on Si wafer (2 inches diameter) by using electroless plating process in plating solution composed of nickel sulfate and assistant. Palladium catalyst was used for Ni plating. CNT film was synthesized by the pyrolysis of FePc.
In this paper thin films of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are grown on metal foil substrates using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique. The surface of the CNTs is further functionalized by sputter deposition of a thin layer of low-work function barium strontium oxide. The combination of low work function surface coating and high field effect from CNTs resulted in a highly efficient...
Transparent single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) based flexible conductive coatings have found great application potentials in flexible displays and solar cells. In this paper we report a simple method for the fabrication of this type of conductive coatings. By using plasma treatment of the flexible polymer substrates, the fabrication of SWCNT flexible coating can be easily achieved through a simple...
Here we report on the fabrication and demonstration of flexible and transparent touch sensors using carbon nanotube thin film(CNTF). We fabricated two types of touch sensors. The first type was a compressively strained CNTF pressure sensor, and the second type was a 5-wire resistive CNTF touch sensor. The change in compressively strained CNTF conductivity depended on the strength of the applied vertical...
