This paper proposes a fuzzy sliding-mode speed controller for high performance IM drive application. The sliding-mode speed controller of asynchronous induction motors is discussed firstly. Then, the fuzzy control is used for optimizing the switching on the sliding surface. Finally, the robust performance of the speed controller is validated with simulations and experiments.
