Mobile handset manufacturers are introducing new features that allow a user to configure the same handset for seamless operation with multiple wireless network providers. As the competitiveness in the wireless network service market intensifies, such products will deliver greater freedom for the mobile users to switch providers dynamically for a better price or quality of experience. For example,...
Nowadays, users of mobile phones generate too many files that have to be frequently downloaded to an external storage repository (freeing local space), using a USB cable or a short-range wireless connection such as Bluetooth. This situation is very common in developing countries where there are not many available wireless networks, restricting the user mobility. This paper presents an Internet File...
Wireless networks have contributed to the technological advance that popularized the use of mobile devices, and fostered the development of applications targeted to these devices. However, issues such as mobility and communication intermittency, as well as processing, storage and battery constraints demand changes in the traditional software testing process. This paper aims to present testing requirements...
As more and more devices are equipped with multiple network interfaces, the multihomed technology is becoming an important technology that can provide more reliable connections against the network failure and better data transmission rate. Concurrent Multipath Transfer (CMT), which is based on SCTP, is devised for multihomed networks. CMT can transmit data over all paths to maximum the data transmission...
With the evolution of mobile communication networks, three-dimensional graphics applications and services are fast developing fields in mobile graphics and wireless networks. While the data size of 3D meshes is increasing, the available bandwidth of wireless networks and the weak resources of mobile devices have become relatively limited. The transmission of graphics multimedia over wireless networks...
The co-existence of heterogeneous access technologies with largely different characteristics results in handoff asymmetry. As the convergence of dissimilar networks has been envisioned to characterize the next generation wireless networks, the seamless and efficient handoff between different access technologies (vertical handoff) has become essential. As the "best" network has to be chosen,...
This paper develops an evolutionary multiple channel management based on mobility in multiple hop wireless network. The n-hops limitation theories are proposed first. Based upon these theories, the enhanced multiple channel management is proposed which consists of channel assignment method and topology prediction method. The channel assignment method is based on the enhanced genetic algorithm. Mobile...
This paper describes a communication model in a two-dimensional grid for mobile wireless networks and shows how to optimally solve some decision problems related to the model. We show that user communication problem (UCP) and source reachability problem (SRP) can be most efficiently solved in polynomial time. Asymptotically time-optimal algorithms for solving these problems are also presented.
