We present an approach to enhance particle nanoplasmonics by using coupling to the high-Q dielectric photonic crystal (PC) resonance. The PC-coupled gold nanorods (AuNRs) exhibit strong amplification (>9x) of the SERS signal compared to the PC-uncoupled AuNRs.
In this paper, we present the design of a W-band waveguide monopulse comparator based on E- and H-plane couplers. E- and H-plane couplers are of 180-degree 3-dB type and consisted of a coupling section and dielectric-slab phase delayer. A monopulse comparator is realized using two E- and two H-plane couplers in tandem. The designed comparator shows amplitude balance within ??0.5 dB and phase balance...
This contribution presents a method of moments (MoM) approach based on a surface/volume integral equation formulation for the characterization of quasi-3D structures in multilayered media. The vertical volume currents for the quasi-3D components are incorporated in the spectral domain Green's functions by analytical integrations over the vertical direction and by a summation over the Cartesian wavenumbers...
Photonic crystal line-defect waveguides can guide optical modes with substantially reduced group velocity. Efficient coupling to slow light waveguides from silicon strip waveguides can be achieved through double stage mode conversion. First, light is coupled to a normal group velocity line-defect waveguide with anti-reflection adjustment of the photonic crystal interface. The reflected intensity at...
This paper presents a dielectric-property determination technique that measures the magnitudes of the reflection and coupling coefficients of coupled antennas. They are plotted on the epsivrpsila epsivrrdquo plane, and the intersection of these two quantities provides the values of epsivrpsila and epsivrrdquo where epsivrpsila is the real part and epsivrrdquo is the imaginary part of the relative...
The results of numerical simulation and experimental study of the antenna array element with circular pattern power based on coax radiator with radial slot filled with dielectric. The behavior of scattering matrix components is considered and power pattern vise versa geometry of radiator. It is showed that such radiator provides quite small reflections |??| ?? -20 dB if frequency band ?? 8%.
This paper studies the possibility of distinguishing between benign and malignant masses by exploiting the morphology-dependent temporal and spectral characteristics of their microwave backscatter response in ultra-wideband breast cancer detection. The spiculated border profiles of 2-D breast masses are generated by modifying the baseline elliptical rings based upon the irregularity of their peripheries...
