In this paper a flow-based model balancing queues at the nodes of MPLS-network is proposed. The novelty of the model is that it, in the contrast to the previously known models takes into account the features of the Traffic Engineering Queues technology. This technology has a purpose to ensuring load balancing of the node buffer resource.
MPLS recovery mechanisms are increasing in popularity because they can guarantee fast restoration and high QoS assurance. In fact, QoS is important for interactive voice and video application and for specific clients. However, link failure always incurs delay and packet losses of the traffic passing through the failed link. Therefore, network has to restore the traffic by switching the affected traffic...
The technology of MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) represents one of the most advanced ways how to optimize the packet-forwarding process in routers. In addition, MPLS also offers new possibilities of resource sharing, important from the point of view of service differentiation and quality of service (QoS) support. The aim of the paper is to present the results of our investigation into the efficiency...
K highest label path algorithm (KHLP) is presented for MPLS-TE. The algorithm first uses generalization of highest-label pre-flow-push algorithm to calculate K-shortest paths, then chooses the LSP in terms of the link criticality and the residual bandwidth, combines K value to give different links weight, further combines offline with online routing to reduce the computational complexity, simultaneously...
Service providers have been in the process of evaluating and evolving their multiple networks to a single converged Internet Protocol (IP)-based infrastructure upon which they will deploy existing and future services. Although many approaches have been proposed, provisioning of Quality of Service (QoS) in the IP-based networks is still a challenging task. From the evolution of QoS solutions, Differentiated...
With the development of network technology, QoS routing algorithm based on MPLS traffic engineering becomes the focus of the information industry. An improved algorithm is proposed based on the known algorithms. For optional paths of each ingress-egress pair, the algorithm uses a learning mechanism, combines offline and online routing, and chooses the LSP in terms of the average expectation load and...
This article proposes a new model to ensure for each application a better quality of service (QoS). The proposed model is called periodic multi-step routing model or PEMS. It is built by integration of traffic engineering based on MPLS and differentiation of traffic depending on the class as proposed by DiffServ. Indeed, many models for optimizing QoS routing use a single specific metric because mixing...
To find a way to access a path to provide quality of service (QoS) requirements, we can use the constraint-based routing technique. Until now algorithms uses an additive constraint along with a bandwidth constraint (e.g. delay or hop count) have been used. It was for the requirement of QoS. Selecting the path is used not only for the guaranty QoS, but also for the bandwidth and delay constraints....
This paper presents a new strategy for burst reservation in OBS networks for the transport of IP/DiffServ traffics with quality of service (QoS) constraints using MPLS. The current resource reservation protocols research in OBS offer several algorithms for burst transmission, some of them taking into account QoS parameters. In this paper, these solutions will be shown according to the needs of IP/DiffServ/MPLS...
This article presents a new QoS architecture for IEEE 802.16 Broadband Wireless MAN. The newly proposed strategy of providing QoS in packet-based networks via IEEE 802.16 has been analyzed. A mapping rule for providing layer 2.5(MPLS protocol) and MAC layer has been proposed. A fast signaling mechanism has been designed to provide QoS in Point to Multipoint (PMP) mode. Although IEEE 802.16 standards...
The recent popularity in the use of multimedia software and applications is creating increasing demand on the Internet to support quality of service (QoS). The problems of most concern in the next-generation Internet (NGI), such as bandwidth and latency, have solutions via DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing), high-speed switches/routers, etc. QoS seems to be one of the few aspects remaining...
