In this paper, an experimental analysis of the serial merged flyback-forward converter is carried out and its use as a single-stage single-phase power factor corrector for isolated power supplies is showed. Two correctors were built using commercial integrated controllers and their performances were tested based on the power factor and dynamic response of the output voltage.
Inductive idling boost PFC converter is proposed in this paper, which benefits with improved power factor and dynamic response speed compared with conventional DCM boost PFC converter. The additional degree of control-freedom introduced by inductor current idling state has been exploited through a simple control technique to achieve power factor correction. Compared with DCM boost PFC converter, the...
Dynamic response of boost power factor correction (PFC) converter operating in continuous-conduction mode (CCM) is heavily influenced by low-bandwidth of voltage control loop. A novel tri-state boost PFC converter operating in pseudo-continuous-conduction mode (PCCM) is proposed in this paper. An additional degree of control-freedom introduced by a freewheeling switching control interval helps to...
In this paper, a systematic overview of PLL-based closed-loop control methods for interleaved DCM/CCM boundary boost PFC converters is presented. It is shown that the PLL-based closed-loop methods always provide stable operation, unlike the open-loop control methods, where the only method which results in stable operation is the slave synchronization to the turn-on instant of the master with current-mode...
In this paper CCM/CVM operation and modeling of the Sheppard-Taylor topology is reviewed and a predictive control strategy is applied for a Sheppard-Taylor-based power factor correction (PFC) rectifier. Compared to conventional boost or buck - boost PFCpsilas, this topology allows a better current tracking at the AC side, with a relatively reduced voltage at the DC side. Consequently, the high frequency...
In this paper, a novel topology of APFC with on-line half-bridge UPS controlled by DSP is presented. The operation principle is analyzed. In order to improve the dynamic response feature of APFC and make the design of LC filter easy, improved current hysteretic control is proposed. A digital control scheme based on DSP is presented. The control model of APFC is simulated with Matlab. In order to verify...
This paper deals with a 3 KW power factor correction (PFC) circuit based on the isolated full-bridge (FB) converter. The operation principle of the very converter is simply analyzed. Digital design consideration based on the small-signal dynamic modeling of the isolated PFC converter is specified in this paper. Implementation strategy and cost effectiveness of digital control for the single-stage...
