Evolutionary computing has proven particularly useful in solving complex problems involving combinatorial optimization. These are problems with various parameters or characteristics that need to be combined in the search for optimal solutions. This project consists of the study, development and implementation of solution methods based on evolutionary computation, specifically in genetic algorithms,...
In order to make a conventional unicycle useable for everybody there are two steps of modification necessary. First a proper stabilization in sideways directions and a good steering-ability requires a broad air-filled rubber wheel. Secondly a high-dynamical electric drive system guarantees the automatically stabilization in forward and backward directions. A gravity control places the centre of gravity...
This paper formulates a steady state analysis of a Doubly Fed Cascaded Induction Machine and presents experimental results that validate the theory presented.
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) spindle motor is a brushless dc (BLDC) motor which has been used in high speed applications due to its high efficiency and good controllability. This paper presents a novel topology for a low cost converter which drives a spindle motor at high speed with high starting torque using the bipolar starting and unipolar running algorithm. This topology is simple and uses only eight...
The service done by technicians on distribution power lines has a high risk of accidents. One common dangerous situation, which the technician is exposed, is when he passes over the minimum security distance, according to international recommendations. This article is based on a development study for an electronic device capable to detecting the electric field coming from 13,8 kV distribution power...
The Computer Numeric Control (CNC) is a technology which aims to generate, parse and execute sequential actions that describes the behavior of the end effector. This article reports the development small sized prototype CNC machine, based on a modular system with the capability of communication through USB. It is also reported the development of the basic electronic devices to run a CNC machine and...
The association of two or more resonance modes of tubular shells on a new type of ultrasonic linear motor is discussed in this paper. Finite element analysis showed that tubular geometries provide several resonance modes with very close frequencies, indicating that axisymmetrical traveling waves could be generated as a composition of two or more them. Finite element method (FEM) simulations were employed...
A full treatment of nonlinear systems such as the ball mill grinding circuit might include stochastic ingredients since the inclusion of several input as well output variables could interact among them, thereby producing a phenomenology which would differ notably of the ones as perceived traditionally. In effect, such interactions could not be described in a fully deterministic scenario due to the...
In now days, the quantity of the data stored is very gigantic and continuous. In an alcohol and sugar industrial production plant, not all variables are analyzed, because the quantity of the data, the diversity of the sectors in the process and the difficulty to be analyze this data. This paper proposes the use of KDD as a tool applied in industrial process, in specifically in sugar cane and alcohol...
The PROFIBUS (Process Field Bus) DP is the most popular field bus communication used in the worldwide industry. Many factors contribute for its popularity: protocol simplicity and flexibility in baud rate, cable length and number of equipments by network. This flexibility causes huge acquisition time and reaction time variations for different network setups. This work shows an analog process variable...
Simulations and analysis of voltage stability and its influence on power quality are presented in this article. The voltage stability concern to the capacity of the power system to maintain an appropriate voltage profile, both in normal operation and in the event of severe disruption. Methods of assessing stability used here are based on the use of algebraic equations obtained from the model of power...
A power control scheme for doubly-fed induction generator for variable speed wind power generation was proposed. Using deadbeat controller and by using stator field oriented, the algorithm calculates the voltage vector to be supplied to the rotor in order to eliminate the active and reactive power errors in each period. Experimental results are presented for validation of the deadbeat controller operation.
