Due to the discussion of developing a more professional education of chemistry teachers, the laboratory course “Unterrichtsversuche für die Sekundarstufe I” at the Christian‐Albrechts‐Universität zu Kiel was reorganized. During its first part, the chemistry students in the teacher training program learn how to formulate educational objectives for chemical experiments. In the second part, the main task for the students is to develop and organize various kinds of projects on their own. In the third part of the course, the students are required both to design an experimental session for pupils and to supervise these pupils performing the experiments in the university's laboratories.
