Die Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS) – im englischen Sprachraum »attention deficit hyperactivity disorder« (ADHD) – ist in den vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnten in weiten Kreisen der Bevölkerung zu einem Begriff geworden. Die relativ hohe Verbreitung dieses Syndroms, auch unter Erwachsenen, wie man inzwischen weiß, und die anhaltende Diskussion über dessen medikamentöse Therapie sowie die dabei zum Einsatz kommenden Stimulanzien haben dazu geführt, dass heute fast jeder einmal von diesem Syndrom gehört hat.
