In this paper, a minimum constrained adaptive monopulse technique is proposed. It constrains the center values and the differential coefficient of the monopulse ratio. This method requires only two restraint conditions, can prevent wastage of degrees of freedom, and can preserve the monopulse ratio without deterioration of its performance in suppression of radio interference.
An analysis of the effect of the number of sensors on the non-cooperative target node localisation is presented. This work examines the target localisation using a centralised range based approach. In doing this, the work leverages an algorithm based on a class of matrix structure called Euclidean distance matrices (EDMs) for the specific purpose of improving localisation performance when the fusion...
Unlike AM and PM systems, FM systems do not necessarily require the use of a dual I/Q receiver for unambiguous phase measurement. In this paper we describe this phenomenon in detail and work out the conditions when single-channel phase measurements can be used for the reliable measurement of the phase and the Doppler frequency of targets in FMCW radars systems. The developed theory is applied to surveillance...
Spectroscopic analysis is used throughout industry, academia, and other areas to differentiate and identify compounds. In many cases the compounds have highly similar spectral structures, i.e., spectral overlap and may only readily be identified as belonging to a class of materials. Current analytical methods perform well when there are clearly discernible peaks within the spectra but are known to...
In this paper we devise a two-stage receiver for detecting targets embedded in heterogeneous interference environment. Precisely, the receiver is composed of a training data selector which excises outliers from the available secondary dataset and an adaptive matched filter (AMF) which performs the decision as to the target presence. The selector estimates the outlier subset resorting to the generalized...
The problem of High Resolution Range Profile (HRRP) estimation is considered in this paper. In particular, stepped frequency waveforms are devised to enhance target Range Profile (RP) estimation accuracy. The basic idea relies on the dynamic optimization of the probing waveform accounting for some feedback information to minimize the profile estimation error. The results highlight the capabilities...
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) using a Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensor can afford high quality 3D Automatic Target Recognition in complex environments. Considering the progress of object recognition algorithms in the computer vision domain, this paper evaluates current local based 3D descriptors on highly credible simulated military UAV reconnaissance scenarios. Trials involve a single...
Micro-Doppler feature analysis of small UAVs (sUAVs) is of great importance for identifying such targets. This paper discusses methods that can be used for analyzing various Doppler features present in the radar signal return from sUAVs. A 94 GHz radar is used in both CW and FMCW modes for data collection, and produces high fidelity micro-Doppler returns. Wavelet decomposition method is then used...
Common household devices unintentionally inject signals onto the mains electricity supply. These signals can be measured using commercially-available equipment designed for electromagnetic compatibility testing, allowing the identification of devices from their current time series when switched on or off. Since measurements can be made outside buildings, it is possible to obtain remote intelligence...
