In recent years there has been a noticeable increase in the interest of the research community in THz technologies and science. This growing interest in the THz gap is somehow driven by the potential applications in a wide range of fields such as security, counterfeit detection, imaging, spectroscopy, etc. However, there is still the need of devices, technologies, or materials that provide the same...
This paper deals with the use of High Order Impedance boundary condition (HOIBC) in 3D MoM codes to improve the accuracy of the Standard Impedance Boundary Condition (SIBC). There have been very few reports of the implementation and validation of HOIBC in 3D MoM codes ([1], [2]). We give validations of the HOIBC obtained with a 3D MoM code that show the improvement in accuracy obtained over SIBC computations.
A structure consisting of a metallic cylinder of elliptic cross section, coated by a conformal layer of material isorefractive to the surrounding medium, and truncated perpendicularly to its generators by a metal plane, is analyzed in the phasor domain. The electromagnetic field produced by an arbitrarily polarized incident plane wave is determined exactly.
The Characteristic Basis Function Method (CBFM)-enhanced Jacobi method has been introduced as an improvement to the standard iterative Jacobi method for finite array analysis. This technique is a domain decomposition approach based on the Method of Moments (MoM) formulation. In some cases, e.g. array environments with a low degree of mutual coupling, the runtime benefit of the CBFM-enhanced Jacobi...
An E-polarized electromagnetic plane wave is obliquely incident on three parallel metal half-planes which are perpendicularly truncated by a metal plane. The scattered field is determined to satisfy an integral equation, which is solved numerically.
The dielectric properties of blood are extremely important for electromagnetic medical applications such as imaging, hyperthermia and ablation. The aim of this paper is to investigate the dielectric properties of human blood and examine the effects of anti-coagulant agents over a broad frequency range. The measurements were performed using freshly extracted human blood samples with and without the...
In this work the radar cross section (RCS) reduction using 2-bit digital anisotropic impedance metasurfaces (MSs) consisting of four types of modules is investigated. Modules are differed by orientation of anisotropy and are described by digital bits of “00”, “01”, “10”, and “11”. Monostatic and bistatic RCS diagrams for two on differently coded, 2-bit digital coatings consisting of 8×8 modules are...
This paper describes the practical aspects involved in the development of TM dielectric resonator filters in a single block made out of ceramic material. In order to manufacture these structures, the additive manufacturing technique known as Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) has been employed. To demonstrate the feasibility of this approach, a simple prototype has been manufactured and...
In a recent published paper, by combining three techniques, i.e., Subdomain Decomposition Iterative Method (SDIM), Adaptive Cross Approximation (ACA) and Forward-Backward Spectral Acceleration (FBSA), from the Method of Moments (MoM), a high-efficiency calculation of the propagation and scattering in ducting maritime environments has been proposed. In this paper, this algorithm is updated by adding...
This paper provides an introduction to mathematical methods of analytical-numerical solution to multi-parameter waveguide inverse problems of reconstructing permittivity of layered dielectric inclusions from the values of the transmission and reflection coefficients. Sufficient conditions of the unique solvability for a family of waveguide inverse problems are obtained.
A double ring FSS with angular stability operating in the WLAN range is discussed in this paper. The Euclidean geometry of the proposed FSS is composed of a periodic array of metallic patches on a dielectric layer of FR4, which is designed and simulated using the commercial software ANSYS. Measurements and simulation of the proposed structure are compared to single ring FSS. An investigation of angular...
A high electromagnetic pulse protection method based on time delay circuit has been presented. The slow wave structures are cleverly used to implement super early response, which can protect the sensitive equipment from the high electromagnetic energy. Firstly, the protection method based on the principle of time delay circuit is introduced. Then the feasibility is verified by ADS simulation software...
