Experimental demonstrations of ring resonators with TiO2 cores are presented and measured with −2.9pm/K resonance shift. Their thermo-stress-optic behavior was found to be important to their function; therefore an inclusive model is presented and simulated numerically.
Broadband low dispersion is shown for both fundamental mode and orbital angular momentum mode in fiber structures with submicron slot. Octave supercontinuum generation covering one octave in the slot fiber for both fundamental mode and OAM mode is shown by simulation.
We investigate effects of macro- and micro-bending on multicore optical fibers including crosstalk, skew, and loss, as well as the performance of a transmission system.
The paper introduces optical nano-hair structures made from high-κ dielectrics that can be used to impart an arbitrary phase function to the transmitted beam. The concept behind the design of these new structures is elaborated.
A hybrid plasmonic waveguide consisting of a high-index dielectric ridge sandwiched between double graphene sheets is shown to support hybrid plasmonic modes at far-infrared regime with strong confinement and low damping rates.
Selective thermal emitters with a metallic 2D photonic crystal structure, such as shown in Fig. 1a), have been demonstrated to control the thermal emission spectrum of selective emitters for thermophotovoltaic applications [1]. Traditionally, tungsten has been the metal of choice for thermal emitters due to their natural thermal emission selectivity to wavelengths > 2µm and high melting temperatures...
We apply this general approach to a novel high-performance two-chemistry photopolymer. After independently obtaining all model parameters, we validate the entire model by testing it in different regimes. First, we study the effect of monomer species and loading on M/# to test the capability of the model, derived only from weak consumption measurements, to the complete consumption of monomer. Second,...
We compare the performance of advanced modulation formats in cascaded phase regenerative systems and demonstrate the importance of constellation optimization to the transfer function characteristics of the regenerator.
