We review the progress made to date on amorphous oxide semiconductor TFT technology. In addition, we discuss some remaining issues for manufacturing with the focus on the role of hydrogen impurity in amorphous oxide semiconductors.
We demonstrate reflective color filters with high angular tolerance (± 65) in a metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) resonator. The principle of operation and angular behavior of proposed filters are investigated and confirmed by numerical calculation and experiment.
We report flexible tapes of high-performance, top-emitting, quantum dot based, light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) with multicolor emission, actively working even when flexed. The resulting QLED tapes reach a high peak luminance level of 19,265 cd/m2.
Wire grid polarizer is a well-known optical element with many important applications. We observed a transition from a polarizer (broadband transmission) to a color filter (resonant transmission) of a metallic nano-slit array as the period of the array is increased. The effect is explained in terms of the mode mismatch between the slit waveguide mode and the incident plane wave, which causes light...
The nanosecond lasing performance of core-shell and alloyed CdSe/ZnS colloidal quantum dots is reported. Low amplified spontaneous emission and laser oscillation thresholds of 0.55mJ/cm2 and 0.9mJ/cm2 are demonstrated for, respectively, thin-films and distributed-feedback cavity structures.
We present experimental evidence of the rapid exchange of diffracted power between the reflected zero-order wave and a substrate wave across a small angular range. This effect enables resonant devices we call Rayleigh reflectors.
We experimentally demonstrate an accurate post-fabrication trimming technique for the correction of the optical phase of silicon photonic devices using a single fabrication step. Using this technique, we reduce the random resonance wavelength variation of ultra-compact silicon resonators by a factor of 6 to below 50 pm.
We design and fabricate a light absorber based on one-dimensional gratings in amorphous Si. We obtain high theoretical and experimental absorption in unpolarized light over wide wavelength and angular ranges.
