The paper aims to explore the factor analysis when applied to a dynamic sequence of medical images obtained using nuclear imaging modality, Positron Emission Tomography (PET). This latter modality allows obtaining information on physiological phenomena, through the examination of radiotracer evolution during time. Factor analysis of dynamic medical images sequence (FADMIS) estimates the unerlying...
Mechanical vibrations can be converted to usable electrical energy by a suitable transducer. There are three basic physical principles for mechanical vibration energy harvesting: electrodynamic, electrostatic and piezoelectric. For lower vibration frequencies generated in applications like transportation, power engines or human motion the electrodynamic principle has advantages compared to the others...
An efficient coplanar waveguide CPW T-matched slot-loop patch antenna has been designed at 2.45 GHz. DGS is implemented to obtain the 3rd harmonic rejection while the second harmonic resonance is obtained by varying the T match length. The proposed antenna is well suitable for wireless power transmission because no input low pass filter and no via-hole connections are required, resulting in a simpler...
This article presents analytical expressions for the electromagnetic parameters (characteristic impedance (Zc), inductance (L] and capacitance (C)) of micromachined shielded membrane microstrip line (SMM). The analytical expressions can be deduced from rigorous analyses using method of moments (MoM) analysis and curve-fitting techniques. An analysis can be readily implemented in modern CAE software...
In this paper, we briefly suggest and describe the function of a new memory cell named hybrid MTJ/Ring memory. It is a perfect example of two features combination to obtain new functionalities that are difficult to achieve using either a pure MTJ or ring memory cell alone. We present and discuss their characteristics simulated by SIMON Simulator in order to improve the access process for writing and/or...
This paper presents a design methodology for hardware/software (HW/SW) architecture design using ESL tools (Electronic System Level). From C++ descriptions, our design flow is able to generate hardware blocks running with a software part and all necessary codes to prototype the HW/SW system on Xilinx FPGAs. Therefore we use assistance of high level synthesis tools (Catapult C Synthesis), logic synthesis...
Detailed electricity load profile for domestic building is an important requirement for the accurate analysis of demand side management. The use of electrical appliances within domestic buildings varies significantly with respect to time, mainly in accordance with the activity and behaviour of the occupants. This paper presents results from a monitoring study of electrical energy consumption profiles...
We describe in this paper a new approach of classifying the different sleep stages only by focusing on the polysomnographic ECG signals. We show the pre-processing technique of the ECG signals. At the same time the identification and elimination of the different types of artifacts which contain the signal and its reconstruction are shown. The automatic classification of the slow-deep sleep and the...
Our paper presents a new method to analyze Chua's circuit and gives a simple method to define circuit parameters that yield to chaotic behavior starting from the typical values used by Chua and coworkers. Using our method, we sugget a fractional order Chua's circuit that behaves chaotically based on the use of a fractional order low pass filter. Numerical simulations confirm our claim.
Behaviroual modelling of power amplifiers is significant for performance estimation efficiency. The numerical error is efficient to characterize a power amplifier models and signal effects. Based on this characteristics, a different performance driven iterative methods for model parameters estimation are presented. We introduce methods for the matrix inversion problems of the model coefficients estimation...
In real-time packet-based communication systems one major problem is misrouted or delayed packets which results in degraded perceived voice quality. When some speech packets are not available on time, tghe packet is known as lost packet in real-time communication systems. The easiest task of a network terminal receiver is to replace silence for the duration of lost speech segments. In a high quality...
In this pater, we present a complete fingerprint recognition system using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The ANN is trained by back-propagation algorithm on a set of fingerprint images. Pseudo Zernike Moments (PZM) will be used as a features vector for all images. To detect the region of interest on the fingerprint image, we have used shape information whichis characterized by elliptical shape...
Software Defined Radios (SDR) allow a dynamic reconfiguration technique of reusing hardware to implement the physical layer processing of a Cognitive Radio (CR)equipment. This paper exhibits three hardware implementation approaches for an SDR respectively called velcro, parametrization and dynamic partial reconfiguration. The main objective of this paper is to discuss the best way to design a flexible,...
Progress in low power Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) design open up possibilities of powering wireless devises from scavenged ambient energy. An energy management system should be designed to manage the harvested energy. DC to DC converters represent the key element in energy management systems. Knowing the diversity of DC-DC converters generally designed for specific applications, basic converters...
This paper deals with the detection and estimation of fault parameter in nonlinear systems. Our main contribution in this work consists in the synthesis of a flat moving horizon estimator for a supervision industrial process. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown through the supervise of a series DC motor. The obtained results are very satisfactory in terms of detection rapidity and precision...
A simple compact model was proposed to simulate the drain current characteristic for single electron transistor at high temperature, it takes into account all contributions mechanisms; thermionic and tunnel effects. Good agreement was reached with experimental results for temperatures up to 430 K. It is valuable for devices with multiple gates and symmetric or asymmetric structures. This result is...
A co-simulation result of a Zero crossing BFSK demodulator with a frequency-hopped spread-spectrum receiver for wireless sensor applications in the 863-870-MHz ISM band is presented. The structure is suitable for Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.4) receiver. The zero crossing demodulator uses a digital one-shot circuit as a differentiator and a pulse width equalization circuit. The proposed demodulator is able...
