This paper presents modification of the TwIST algorithm for Compressive Sensing MRI images reconstruction. Compressive Sensing is new approach in signal processing whose basic idea is recovering signal form small set of available samples. The application of the Compressive Sensing in biomedical imaging has found great importance. It allows significant lowering of the acquisition time, and therefore,...
Paper presents the development and approbation of methodological approach to assess environmental quality through testing of indigenous invertebrates cardiac responses. It was shown that method could be useful in ecotoxicological studies as well as in ecosystem health assessment.
This paper considers the use of compressive sensing based algorithms for velocity estimation of moving vehicles. The procedure is based on sparse reconstruction algorithms combined with time-frequency analysis applied to video data. This algorithm provides an accurate estimation of object's velocity even in the case of a very reduced number of available video frames. The influence of crucial parameters...
A problem of optimal design of a filter for heart rate variability analysis is considered in this paper. Multistage, multirate structure is designed to implement ECG-signal processing with minimum computations. The number of stages and decimation factors at each stage are calculated. It is shown that optimal design of a filter allows significant processing time reduction to be achieved.
The way of using, processing and comparison of audiological measurements with correction characteristics for which person with hearing damages (hearing impairment) can listen to recorded audio files on personal computer using Web application without use of hearing aid device is proposed and presented in the paper. Adjustments of correction levels are controlled by measuring in characteristical points...
This paper presents the application of knowledgeware technologies and CAD systems in the field of 3D non-invasive diagnosis of idiopathic spinal deformity, primarily scoliosis. Automation of the process of generating key diagnostic indicators and a 3D model of the spine, based on digitized dorsal surfaces of patients, is achieved by implementing VBA macros and specialized modules of the CATIA v5 PLM...
In this paper we present efficient algorithm for enumerating frequent pairs in database of transactions. Counting support for itemset pairs can be dominant step in frequent itemset mining occupying in some cases greater that 90% of total execution time. For efficient implementation we use one-dimensional array and define one-to-one function that maps 2-itemsets to array indexes preserving lexicographic...
It is proposed a new algorithm for parallel connected component labeling which applies labels to image runs. The algorithm is designed to efficiently label a text document with a large number of characters inside. In contrast to the existing parallel labeling algorithms, our method benefits from modern CPU architectures; it is designed to operate on image runs, not pixels, which make it possible to...
The paper describes development experience and presents operation results of the test organisms' efficiency self-diagnosis as a part of the bioelectronic System for Industrial Biological Water Quality Monitoring (SIBWQM) installed at water intakes of St. Petersburg (Russia).
This paper describes design and development of an advanced control unit for linear motor. The unit is designed for performing precise, reliable and safe measurements in (cardiovascular) biomechanics. Design and implementation of this embedded system is focused on availability, predictability and fail-safe behavior. Designing this system shows practical use of an FPGA chips for embedded system design...
This paper analyzes the performance of different compressive sensing algorithms applied to signals with polynomial and cosine modulated phases, that usually appear in radar communications. In order to provide sparsity in the Fourier transform domain, the signal components are firstly demodulated by a direct parameter search method. In this way, the signals are sparsified in the DFT domain. The performance...
This paper describes the development and testing of a vehicle recognition prototype based on magnetic sensors. The aim of this research is to design a low cost, low power consumption and simple hardware platform for vehicle recognition. The goal is to recognize four types of vehicles (car, bus, mini-bus or camper) as they run over a set of magnetic sensors. We describe all steps for correct vehicle...
Article deals with synthesis and analysis of detector of fractal signal at the background of non-correlated Gaussian noise. Model of signal is fractional Brownian motion (fBm), which describes many types of signal particularly flicker-noise. Expression for likelihood ratio is given being based on fBm models in time and spectral fields. This expression is a sufficient statistics for many problems of...
The suggested SPIHT-based (Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees) compression method for degraded one-look SAR images is aimed to be realized in onboard radar hardware to improve quality of on-ground registered image. The main idea of the method is to select two segments in the SAR image: with relatively uncorrupted data (after some processing) and data with fully developed speckle. Then, these two...
The short characteristic of the developed complex of mathematical models of support of stability of functioning of the distributed information systems is this. Results of the experimental check of the developed mathematical models are given. Features of their practical use are given in stages of life cycle of the distributed information systems.
A hardware architecture for the single iteration algorithm is proposed in this paper. Single iteration algorithm enables reconstruction of the full signal when small number of signal samples is available. The algorithm is based on the threshold calculation, and allows distinguishing between signal components and noise that appears as a consequence of missing samples. The proposed system for hardware...
FPGAs are becoming more popular in the domain of safety-critical applications (such as space applications) due to their high performance, re-programmability and reduced development cost. Such systems require FPGAs with self-detection and self-repairing capabilities in order to cope with errors due to the harsh conditions that usually exist in such environments. In this paper, a new dynamic fault recovery...
The SHA-3 cryptographic hash algorithm is standardized in FIPS 202. We present a pipelined hardware architecture supporting all the four SHA-3 modes of operation and a high-performance implementation for FPGA devices that can support both multi-block and multi-message processing. Experimental results on different FPGA devices validate that the proposed design achieves significant throughput improvements...
Integrating or creating new applications (services), using existing data involves changing existing applications (services). For better usage, there is a need to export data as basic services (SOA approach). Representational State Transfer (REST) works with resources instead of operations, offering full web-scale interoperability and scalability advantages while exchanging information between applications...
