We design a monitoring system of respiratory mechanical parameters based on flow and pressure sensors, discuss the key issues such as sensor selection, amplification circuit, three-way valve control circuit, and describe system's application procedures and the function that man-machine interface achieved. Then we compare and verify that the system can accurately monitor parameters in the laboratory...
Spot identification is of great importance in the process of microarray information analysis. In this paper, Based on the features of microarray image recognized, an automatic spot identification method using the deformable template technique is proposed. A deformable template model is constructed based on spot array. The shift, rotation and zoom of the template are denoted by several parameters....
T mixers are widely used in protein folding experiments. In this paper, numerical simulation method was used to characterize the mixing performances of two T mixers. The results showed that these mixers could achieve efficient solution mixing from tens of microseconds to several hundreds of microseconds. It is concluded that numerical simulation will aid further optimization of mixer design.
Post-stroke rehabilitation training is proven clinically to be essential and effective on helping stroke patients to regain part of the functionality of their body. In recent years, cost-efficient rehabilitation training programs especially unsupervised training have become a popular research area due the increasing number of post-stroke hospitalizations and the high healthcare expenditure associated...
High-speed and low-cost high-throughput nucleic acid detection technology has become the mainstream of nucleic acid detection, and gradually developed to the super high-throughput. Application of high-throughput nucleic acid analysis technique has provided new technical platform for many research fields. Currently a lot of countries combine gene chip with corresponding technique to form a new generation...
The purpose of this paper is to obtain non-directional electrodes for neural stimulating or recording by reforming the wedge-shape tip of concentric circle electrodes which applied to electromyography (EMG) detection. The electrode tips were ground by sand paper. The electrodes before and after ground were characterized by photomicrography and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Animal test...
The tests of meridians and acupoints have been studied for rabbits, goats, pigs and other animals by domestic and foreign meridian researchers. This paper describes a series of experiments in toads to study meridian phenomenon in vivo. The method based on electrical network theories using a high amplitude pulse tests dynamically the voltage signal transmission characteristics of different ports in...
During the last decades, bone tissue repair and regeneration have been increasing interest in the clinical therapy scientific field, and with the development of materials, biology and tissue engineering, the bone tissue engineering has been as an efficient method to treat bone defects. This review summarizes several aspects related to bone tissue engineering for bone repair and regeneration: the biomaterials...
In the bone tissue engineering, the new bone tissue regeneration is managed by these bone cells under tightly controlled microenvironment including both chemical and mechanical stimuli. In this paper, we summarize an overview of published studies on the understandings of the cells' response to environmental stimuli. Specific attention has been focused on the effect of biomaterial's chemical and physical...
In order to monitor the rehabilitation training of stroke patients in unsupervised situation and provide rehabilitation advice for rehabilitation clinicians, a wireless upper limb motion recognition system has been developed using tilt sensors, to identify the complex upper limb movements such as flexion and extension of elbow, flexion of elbow and touch the head, from a stroke patient's rehabilitation...
The present paper proposes an analog front-end (AFE) circuit, including only one low-noise amplifier with chopping techniques and one high-pass sigma-delta modulator (HPSDM), which can be applied as a sensing circuit for electroencephalogram or electrocorticogram (ECoG) signal acquisition systems. The low-noise amplifier, which has a close-loop gain of 20 V/V and CMRR of 109.6 dB, is implemented by...
A CMOS OTA-C notch filter for 50Hz interference was presented in this paper. The OTAs were working in weak inversion region in order to achieve ultra low transconductance and power consumptions. The circuits were designed using SMIC mixed-signal 0.18nm 1P6M process. The post-annotated simulation indicated that an attenuation of 47.2dB for power line interference and a 120pW consumption. The design...
The current paper presents a fully integrated CMOS RF front-end circuit with low-power consumption for passive 13.56 MHz biomedical implants. The 13.56 MHz carrier frequency of the binary phase shift keying (BPSK) signal is transmitted to the body through the external and internal coils. The full-wave bridge rectifier of biomedical implants rectifies the BPSK signal received from the internal coil,...
Blood pressure is one of important physiological parameters which reflect the functional status of heart and vessels of human beings. General oscillometric method of noninvasive blood pressure measurement usually extracts oscillation amplitudes during the deflation, then uses the curve fitting technique to calculate blood pressure. In this paper, an improved algorithm is proposed which uses partially...
Fluorescence disturbance is the primary limiting factor of biomedical Raman spectroscopy. This paper proposed a dual-excitation difference technique for fluorescence rejection. In this research, a low-cost dual-excitation system was built for Raman detection, and a robust deconvolution algorithm was developed for spectrum recovery. Simulation and experimental results demonstrated that this method...
This paper presents low-power systematic integration of the instrumentation amplifier and the low-pass filter for portable ECG monitoring systems. To reduce overall power consumption, the electrode offset cancellation was carried out by sharing one operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) between the amplifier and the filter. Dual loops were implemented to provide offset cancellation so that the...
This paper presents a low-power RF-transmitter for intelligent healthcare systems. With attention to power-efficient communication in the local sensor network, the required low-power integrated circuits (ICs) are developed for a healthcare system with miniaturization and system integration. A quadrature CMOS voltage-controlled oscillator and a direct-conversion transmitter with PA and up-conversion...
