This paper presents the simulation results of a Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (SMPMSG) for varying rotor diameter and stator core lengths. Samarium cobalt magnet is used for the rotor. The simulation of the SMPMSG was done using the software package Infolitica/Magnet.
The SPWM control in a single FPGA has been developed and implemented. The SPWM IP core is designed using VHDL and a single FPGA, SPARTAN XC3S400PQ208 from Xilinx Inc. The simulations are carried out using Model Sim 5.7 and the implementation is carried out using Xilinx foundation series 9.1i. The PWM patterns have been achieved for different switching and fundamental frequencies. The output fundamental...
The main objective of Load Frequency Control (LFC) is to regulate the power output of the electric generator within an area in response to changes in system frequency and tie-line loading. Thus the LFC helps in maintaining the scheduled system frequency and tie-line power interchange with the other areas within the prescribed limits. Most LFCs are primarily composed of an integral controller. The...
Nuclear power plants have Normal and Emergency power supply systems. Both the power supply systems are to be reliable for safe operation of the plant. Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) coming up at Kalpakkam is a single unit 500MWe project. DGs (Diesel generators) are the main on site power sources in the Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). Their capability to pick up the emergency loads in desired sequence...
This paper proposes a new control strategy to capture optimum power from the wind through closed loop current control and rotor speed regulation of DFIG. Firstly wind turbine characteristics and optimum power curve is introduced. Active and reactive power decoupling control is adopted from the principle of stator oriented field control. Mathematical model of DFIG with current control loop using PI...
Nuclear power plants have Normal and Emergency power supply systems. Both the power supply systems are to be reliable for safe operation of the plant. Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) coming up at Kalpakkam is a single unit 500 MWe project. The normal power supply system consists of two Station Buses and two Unit Buses. The station buses are fed from grid through a Station Transformer (ST). The...
