Due to the growing of the electrical energy demand and depletion of the fossil-fuel resources, especial attention has been made to utilize the renewable-energy sources such as wind. Nowadays, variable-speed wind turbine (VSWT) is employed to increase the amount of the extracted wind power and also to mitigate the stress imposed on the turbine. The PMSG-based VSWT equipped with the conventional back to back converter is one of the most popular variable-speed structures. In this paper, the conventional back to back converter is replaced by a matrix type. Furthermore, it is discussed the extracting the maximum power of wind may lead to appearance of fluctuation in the output power. In this paper, a novel and simple scheme is introduced, which not only mitigate the fluctuation of output power, but also preserve the peak power tracking capability. Comparison between proposed and conventional scheme confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
