Up to now, most studies and evaluation about CCHP (combined cooling, heating and power) pollutant emissions is at steady state and full load of power output, the transient pollutant emissions during micro-turbine startup are neglected without persuasive reasons. In fact, at partial loads and transient processes the pollutant emission characteristics can be very different from rated conditions. It is possible to make wrong conclusion if we don't realize the difference. This paper reveals some results of transient pollutant emissions of micro-turbine startup at both partial loads and full power output. The experiment studied the performance of pollutant emissions at transient and steady-static conditions with the micro-turbine power output being maintained at a nearly constant power output (40-100 kW with 10 kW increment) and air inlet (ambient) temperatures (0-6.5°C). The testing results show that transient pollutant emissions of micro-turbine startup have significant impacts on total pollutant emissions, especially for CO, Steady static pollutant emissions of the micro-turbine at full power output can meets the values in the catalog of producer and operation of the micro-turbine at partial power output increases the steady-static emissions of the flue gas.
