The crystallization behavior and magnetic properties have been investigated in melt-spun Pr 7 Tb 1 Fe 8 4 . 5 Nb 1 . 5 B 6 samples. A c-axis texture of 2:14:1 phase was observed in ribbons spun below 14m/s. Samples spun above 40m/s show an amorphous phase, which crystallizes into a TbCu 7 structure before it transforms into the 2:14:1 phase. At higher temperatures, (Pr,Tb) 1 + δ Fe 4 B 4 phase precipitates from the matrix. Optimum magnetic properties are found with coercivity H c =8.6kOe and (BH) m a x =17.3MGOe.
