To investigate whether the hSNF5/INI1 gene located on chromosome 22q is involved in lung carcinogenesis, mutation analysis of the hSNF5/INI1 gene was performed using 50 lung cancer cell lines. No mutations causing amino acid substitutions or frameshifts were found by PCR-SSCP analysis of the entire coding region. The results indicated that the hSNF5/INI1 gene is not inactivated in lung cancers and suggested the presence of another tumor suppressor gene on chromosome 22q.
