In his explanation of the remission of sins by the Church Saint Augistine relates it closely to the concept of the Church being a space where the Holy Spirt acts. Baptism removes the original sin of man as well as all the sins committed before it. The Bishop is well aware of the fact that human nature is sinful and weak, therefore, all men need to obtain remission of their sins committed after baptism. Man may obtain remission of his sins throgh prayer, alms and repentance. Everyday prayer brings remission of light sins. However, mortal sins require paenitentia maior. The forgiveness of committed sins is conditional upon forgiving by the sinner those who trespassed against him. The change of sinner's life is essential, that is why it is impossible to obtain forgiveness without such transformation.
