A millimeter-wave (mm-wave) radio-over-fiber (RoF) system based on unlocked heterodyned light sources and self-homodyned RF receiver is proposed and demonstrated. Since the mm-wave signal is generated through the beating of two independent optical signals at the photodetector, complexities of the generation and distribution of mm-wave signal in the optical domain are avoided. Also, as RF self-homodyning...
Two millimeter-wave radio-over-fiber signal-generation schemes are demonstrated by heterodyning unlocked-lasers and homodyning the detected RF-carrier to cancel phase-noise effects at baseband. The proposed schemes avoid phase/frequency locking, high-speed modulators and local-oscillators at CS and BSs.
The Performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) combined with Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) has been analyzed in presence of fiber optic dispersion. The influence of dispersion on the (OFDM) spectrum is investigated with fiber lengths, bit rates, no. of channels and source line widths. The inter-channel interference occurs due to dispersion-induced broadening of OFDM spectrum...
