In this work we characterize the RF modulation characteristics and the dynamic range of a III-V-on-Silicon DFB laser. The direct modulation of this laser is demonstrated with a 1Gbps radio-over-fiber link at a carrier frequency up to 24 GHz using QPSK modulation. 480Mbps 64-QAM transmission at 3.5 GHz carrier frequency is demonstrated as well. In the 480 Mbps experiment both the transmitter and receiver...
We demonstrate a six spatial-mode, wavelength-routing network interoperable with few-mode, coupled-multi-core, and single-mode fiber spans using a custom 57-port wavelength-selective switch configured for joint-switching of spatial-superchannels.
This paper describes an ATE extension module that enables a low-cost test system to be applied to advanced (multi-GHz) memories. The target application is for testing memories with data rates above 3.2Gbps. The test module uses state-of-the-art FPGAs for economical autonomous pattern synthesis and comparison under the high-level supervision of a low-cost “host” test platform (ATE). The FPGA logic...
Compressive sensing (CS) based techniques have been demonstrated to be suitable for UWB based applications to reduce the sampling rate required at the receiver. However, current CS based UWB positioning techniques require high-rate mixing operations to generate the PN sequence to achieve random mixing. This paper proposed a modified CS based implementation that employs relatively low-rate random pre-mixing...
We present results of the first field trial ever to include a component of MDM. The demonstrated scenarios all confirm the possibility for a partial upgrade of legacy systems to few-mode technology.
The wideband coverage of the traditional FFT-based electronic warfare (EW) receiver is limited by the sampling frequency of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Compressed sensing (CS) based wideband EW digital receiver has been proposed and under development to process wideband sparse signals with reduced sampling rate. In this study, we calculate the sensitivity of a CS based EW receiver. Two...
In this paper, an indoor MIMO-VLC system with filter is proposed. And the numerical results demonstrate that the new system has higher MIMO channel response compared with that of the system without filters.
