Summary of case report This case report highlights an adult patient attending the acute surgical team with perforation of the sigmoid colon. Pathological analysis of the resected specimen demonstrated segmental absence of the intestinal musculature, a rare clinical entity usually found in neonatal or childhood when patients present with intestinal obstruction, perforation or intussusception.
