A universal mechanism of metal additive atoms influence on copper vapor laser parameters is proposed to interpret the peculiarities, observed at injection of cesium, silver and zinc atoms into the discharge volume. The effect of thermal instability, caused by the additives influence on the plasma processes is discussed.
The influence of Zn-atom additive on ‘pure’ copper vapor laser output characteristics is studied. The laser pulse width, energy and power are found to increase under the diffusion of zinc atoms from a zinc-containing reservoir into the discharge of the copper-vapor laser at temperatures above 500°C. Additional absorption experiments and calculations are consistent with the conclusion that not only...
Results of experimental investigation of a pure elemental copper-vapour laser with silver additive are reported. Average output power as well laser output pulse energy increased by up to 10% with the additive. A possible mechanism of additive influence on laser output parameters is discussed.
