A novel high efficiency transformer-based flyback dc-dc converter with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and zero current switching (ZCS) control is proposed in this paper. By adding a new primary side, the transformer works in flyback mode and the ordinary n-well process is used rather than twin-well. The startup process is divided into two modes: oscillation mode and constant duty-cycle flyback...
This paper presents a boost converter used to harvest photovoltaic energy, one of the most important renewable energy sources, and to converter it into a power supply for micro power devices. To meet the low power requirements of applications such as wireless sensor network, the converter is designed to work at burst-mode to reduce power consumption. And a simple Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)...
In this paper, an universal LED driver that adaptive to both buck and boost topologies with high dimming ratio is proposed based on energy harvesting system. The proposed driver can realize either step-up or step-down functions, depending on the connection with power stage. Moreover, PWM dimming is achieved to adjust the brightness to enhance battery life. The proposed controller is designed and fabricated...
This paper presents a 300 mV start-up technology for step-up DC-DC converters in energy harvesting systems. A cross-coupled multi-level charge pump improves start-up driving capability. And a voltage detector with reduced area and power cost is designed for the start-up voltage detection using less than 1 nA current. The proposed start-up system is designed under standard 0.18 um CMOS process.
